GHOSHAN*5530, 23 Apr 2010Hi Nuwan, Your comments have been really usefull (and cybe... moreok ok 1st go to your setting folder then go to phone=>phone mgmt(management)=>then click device update=>click options=>then click "check for updates" (before you do this that you should be sure that your carrier supplies gprs or any internet connection like 3G, price depends on the carrier.Wi-fi can also be used here)=> then follow the instructions=> don't turn off your phone while it's updating it can damage your phone=> your good to go enjoy your latest firmware. . another method you can update it via computer just go to this link "http://www.nokia.com.ph/support/download-software/device-software-update" choose your phone model, download then install follow the instructions. . . then there. . .
to know if your device supports new firmware go to this other link "http://www.nokia.com.ph/support/download-software/device-software-update/can-i-update" then follow instructions then your done. . .

      my shorcuts on my home screen have disappeared!:(
      wats the problem with that? i did factory reset but it doesnt change anything!

          Worst phone I ever had! I've had it for 4 months and buttons already malfunction. Screen sometimes goes black, and the lock/unlock button is useless in this case. But the thing that bothers me the most is the touchscreen's responsiveness. It often fails to react to any input, like when I want to put it on mute, I press and press but nothing happens. It's sluggish as hell.
          One thing I can't complain about is battery life, for a touchscreen phone, I usually get 5 or 6 days without charging.
          Most phones I've had were from Nokia, and this one was a HUGE dissapointment.

                [deleted post]hmm the w705. . I really love Sony Ericsson due to great phones that I have owned k800 and the G700. . the w705 a walkman slider, well I also love the 5530 due to the gorgeous 2.9 inch screen and the 3.5 mm jack plus I miss owning a Symbian s60 device (I used to have the 5700 and the n76). . while the w705 has the fast port rather than 3.5 mm audio jack , which I think is not a better option. . .(my SE device nightmare) Fast ports accessories like earphone adapters are not that durable. . . But as a music player I think that w705 is a better choice (put aside the fast port) but the w705 is now equipped with features like Shake control ,mega bass preset and the cool visual look of the player making it a great choice for musicians. . As a browser 5530 is better, the rule is bigger is better. The bigger screen and resolution is a big help (but browser makes web browsing so poor, due to crashes and bugs. But you can download the new opera browser or the cool new formware). .
                Camera performance well both phones are equipped with 3.15 megapixel sensor. . . the 5530 wins in favor 'IF' you like close up shots. . but the w705 wins in favor 'IF' we talk about image quality. .
                As a phone both phones are fine but 5530 wins in a slight margin due to the QWERTY keyboard. . but that's nothing to brag about. . the keypad of the w705 seems natural for me to use

                    Nuwan, 22 Apr 2010Dear M, Seems the LED beneath the Red button has gone de... moreYO! ! nuwan I have f8cking bad news man, my baby (5530) just got broken a little while ago, my nightmare about touchscreens (same as capacitive and resistive) the bottom portion of my screen now has super low response, it's hard to click the cancel,exit,the number 0,the backspace and some letters on that portion in my qwerty.. at first it had weird response like pressing the letter O registers the letter P. . I noticed it, then I decided to gave it a test run,some worked fine at first then later on it's hard to register a click on the Cancel or the exit button. . . then texting is so darn painful the number O button doesn't work anymore. . . bringing it to nokia care tomorrow. . good thing my Nokia Care warranty is still valid. . .
                    it must be the sensor that has been faulty. . Hoping I don't encounter this problem again, ahahah buying me a 5130 xpress music just for the time being. . .

                        Seems the LED beneath the Red button has gone dead or something... It can't be a software bug... You may go to Nokia care center or reputed Nokia service provider to fix the issue...

                          Our friend is correct.. Nokia 5800 has a new firmware update (V 50) which comes up with Kinetic scrolling in main menu too...! I updated my 5800 firmware yesterday so that I can confirm it... But no any updates so far for 5530 which I use as the regular phone... (5800 I only use for 3G internet surfing paired with my computer when I'm at home...)

                          However still 5800 can't come near to the Sensitivity of the 5530 touch screen... Just like you said, it's hardware based matter... No any firmware update can do that..!

                            Please have a look at specifications of this mobile... Nokia 5530 doesn't have GPS module inbuilt.. (Though it has relevant software) So how hard you tried, it will never give you coordinates of your position... You should buy a Bluetooth GPS device and pair it with Nokia 5530 in order to use the particular software and facilities...

                              I have a problem with my 5530's camera .When I record a video with high quality format and then I want to play it , it stops (like hanging on 1 second) and then I should close the player . What should I do ? I've reinstall the firmware but still the same ...

                                well,i only own nokia phone once and the earpiece volume was so low,the voice sounds muffled even i set it to the highest volume,since then i never think to get nokia phone..
                                but this phone catch my attention back~
