Nokia seems to be very competitive with samsung.. Nokia 5230 vs star5230, 5530Xm with star5600 and now E63 Vs C6625... all these phones are very closely priced.

Finally! One of the biggest complaints with the Nokia 5800, N97 and all other touchscreen products has been the lack of kinetic scrolling, and the Finnish giant is all set to address that.
At the annual Nokia World mega-event in Stuttgart, Germany – where the company has already announced a new iPhone-killer with capacitive touchscreen and launched the N97 Mini – Mark Guim of The Nokia Blog got a spokesperson to show off the new firmware 2.0 update for the Symbian S60 5th edition platform for touchscreen phones, and caught it all on video.
We strongly recommend you watch the whole thing, but otherwise, here are the salient points:
1. Better kinetic scrolling: First off, we are overjoyed to see that the update brings kinetic scrolling to Nokia’s line-up. Swiping your finger up or down to have your contact list roll over was one of the iPhone’s coolest features, but had not been incorporated in the S60 so far. But firmware 2.0 fixes that and brings kinetic scrolling to all possible interfaces, including contact list, apps menu, music player, etc.
2. Reduced memory usage: The other big improvement is the reduction of memory usage. The S60 5th edition has been heavily criticised by reviewers and users for taking up too much onboard storage space, thus reducing the ability to add essential applications. The Nokia spokesperson in the video says that the new update fixes this by reducing memory usage by a whopping 25-30MB!
3. New and updated apps: Speaking of applications, firmware 2.0 will also bring a few new additions to the Nokia Apps, such as CNN Video, ESPN Soccer, etc. and also update existing apps such as the Facebook one.
4. Sluggish performance persists: What the new update doesn’t seem to fix, though, is the sluggish performance at times. The phone still looked visibly slow when the spokesperson was starting up the music player. Perhaps the only hope on that front for Nokia fans is Maemo 5.
The Nokia spokesperson said that the new firmware 2.0 update is expected be available to all Nokia touchscreen phones in October, downloadable directly through the software update client.

its not yet launched officially, I saw this phone in Ulhasnagar for 14K. with no bill. REally cool handset but I was not happy with touch response. handled this phone for 5 minutes. Waiting for its official release.

Waqas, 09 Sep 2009Please don't compare Samsung star with 5530.No one can offe... morethere are no other manufacturers giving a touch screen smartphone at the price that nokia is offering...even 5230 is much better than star..
star is for people who use a mobile phone just for calling and sms for power user who seek a computer in their handheld device 5530 is the best and cheapest they can get..
i don't like saying this but people who think star is a better choice over 5530 are dumb (not regarding the price tag though)

SEVERAL REASONZ TO GO FOR 5530 n NOT Samsung Star
Samsung Star is not a direct 5530 competitor, but I found that many cellphone buyers are confused between Nokia 5530 and Samsung Star . So, i decided to write a post to clarify their doubts. You may wonder why am i not calling it a competitor when Star is also a touchscreen phone with similar looks and size and falls in the same price range.I’m saying this on the basis of smartphone capabilities.
While Nokia 5530 is a smartphone based on Symbian operating system, Samsung Tocco Lite is not a true smartphone i.e it cannot run 3rd party applications.This single reason is sufficient enough to consider buying 5530 over Samsung Star.A true smartphone has an operating system such as Windows Mobile, Mac, Linux, Symbian, Android etc.If you don’t know the potential of a Symbain smartphone then go through this post.
You will feel handicapped without provision for 3rd party applications. If you use Windows on your PC you may be aware how useful the 3rd party applications are.For Example Photoshop, Firefox, Media Player Classic to name a few. Can you manage without these?
Although, this is the most important reason for choosing 5530 over Star, there are few more points that i would like to elaborate. Let’s go through them
Display - Nokia 5530 and Samsung Star have same size touchscreens, but there is a huge difference between the screen resolutions. 5530 has much better 360×640 pixels, 16 Million Colors display, whereas Samsung Star has 240×400 pixels display with 256 K Colors.
Memory - Nokia 5530 comes with a 4 GB card in the sales package whereas you have to purchase a Micro SD card for Samsung Star separately.
Camera - Both have 3.2 Megapixel cameras but with huge difference. Nokia 5530 has an autofocus camera with LED Flash and can record DVD quality videos at 30 fps, whereas Star has a Fixed focus camera which lacks Flash and records poor quality videos at 15 fps.

Connectivity - While 553o offers high speed connectivity through Wifi, there is no means for high speed net browsing on Star.You have to rely on slow EDGE or GPRS connection.
Hardware - 5530 has very powerful hardware which includes 434 Mhz CPU and 128 MB RAM, same as Nokia flagship N97.This means faster operations and multitasking i.e running many applications simultaneously.
Kinetic Scrolling - Have you checked the 20 Min kinetic scrolling video of Nokia 5530? It is an awesome feature and works through the entire user interface.
Multimedia - 5530 offers excellent audio quality through noise isolating earphones in the sales package.It also includes standard 3.5 mm jack to plug in you own earphones. There is no such provision in Samsung Star.You can play full length DVD movies in .avi format on your 5530 through a 3rd party software.
Task Manager - You can switch between running applications and close them through task manager. No such task manager in Samsung Star.
I don’t want this to be a biased comparison with all praise for Nokia 5530. There are few cool things in Samsung Star also which i would like to describe.
TouchWiz - Samsung’s TouchWiz interface let’s you add widgets on you phone’s homescreen. The widget can be anything such as calendar, clock, document viewer etc.
Smart Unlock - By drawing a letter on you touchscreen you can unlock phone as well as launch applications. For example, R to launch Radio.
Price - Samsung Star belongs to the entry level touchscreen phones and is priced $ 215 at Amazon. Nokia 5530 is priced higher.It is available for $260 at Amazon.
So, are you willing to lose so many useful features in Nokia 5530 for mere $45 ?

star wifi ... morePlease don't compare Samsung star with 5530.No one can offer a symbian smartphone at affordable prices other than Nokia.Check the entire smartphone world and you will come to know other manufacturers are offering symbian phones at what price.

As 3G will b launched by Oct 2010 by Airtel & Vodafone...So 5800 is waste & 5800 is old phone now.
So nokai is taking it out of market. & as 5800 is there 1st touch phone.
& as there will b no 3G till oct 2010 Nokia wanna take advantage of 5530.
