For a long time dotsis is not working... These days I'm usually using mobile9(dot)com which is also good but not that reliable as dotsis... Because dotsis had some professional users that I could rely upon but mobile9 doesn't... However dailymobile(dot)se can also be recommended to replace dotsis.. (It's very similar to dotsis actually...)

Actually I'm still using the same set of applications which I'm used to most... So I am unable to provide you any new stuff... However I recently tried some CFWs (custom firmwares) and they really are great... (You no longer have to do so many stuff to have a hacked phone... It's just very simple if you install a CFW which is already hacked...) Please search in dailymobile(dot)se for more details and downloads... (Strictly follow the instructions...)

Now regarding your queries.. For certain themes which have heavy graphics and all, the phone will be slow... That's very natural... So you have to be careful when installing themes... I'm being very careful when installing a new theme... Whether it's eating RAM or not... Whether it's making the system very slow or not.. etc... If it is, then I would get rid of it even though it's so beautiful because I need the performance over beauty... (So if you're sure the reason for the poor performance of the mobile is the theme, then my suggestion is to remove it...)

Installing themes or software in phone memory is not advisable unless for a special instance... So do install every theme and every app in memory card only... There are some apps which will automatically be installed to the phone memory but be careful about them... (I'm not saying they're harmful.. just be careful and watch... that's it...)

Actually Symbian S60 V5 (Touch screen) OS doesn't have viruses reported yet... So installing an Anti Virus solely for Virus threats is useless... It'll only make your mobile slow... However there are Anti Virus software which have some other features as well... (Like start up control, tune up, Call Black list control etc...) If those features are really handy then you may want to keep the anti virus... (It depends anyway...)

I hope you're using 'RAM Blower' for tuning up your system and have some more RAM when needed... (That's one of the most wanted app for 5530...)

ken, 29 Dec 2010is it normal that the battery die only 4-5 hours?...i bough... morei've used this phone @ full charged and it lasted more than 8 hrs,i took abt 30 photos,and call people abt 15mins,ande snt abt 10 msgs and abt 2hrs of music using loud speakers,it's a good phone,i use two batteries for my phone,if u ar interested,buy a extra battery....

I'm a SMS beast myself... I sent more than 100 SMS per day sometimes... Some messages are huge.. (Let's say 7 or 8 portions at once....) I send all those using my 5530 Alpha Numeric Key pad which is very very convenient and easy to use...

Actually I was very afraid 'Whether I'll be able to get used to touch screen mobiles due to two matters...
1) I'm not a careful mobile user.. Touch screen phones always seemed handy but not that solid... So I thought they'll break easily...

2) I SMS a lot... a lot means really a lot... I thought using touch screen SMSing will be a painful experience...

But... Now I'm using this wonderful mobile for more than a year now... Here are my answers for above 2 questions...

1) This phone is bloody durable...! I drop it on the Concrete floor or road pavement at least once a week... But still it runs smooth and never had been a trouble in any case...! (in this regard, Nokia ROCKS...!)

2) SMS typing in this phone is like a dream... I dare everybody who're using non-touch screen phones to give me a challenge for the SMS typing speed... Still nobody could... (I'm sure there are people who can type very fast... But due to this touch screen sensitivity and smoothness, those who can type sms fast, they can type the same SMS on touch screen phones even faster because it's very very smooth and sensitive... Your fingers will never get tired of typing them....!

But still... Don't be so optimistic...! It'll take one or two weeks for you to get used with touch screen buttons... For me, within a week I loved the new way... For some other people, it'll take even less or more than that... Well.. It depends...

One more thing... Nokia 5530 has qwerty keyboard (touch)... Though I'm not familiar with it, you may find it easier than alpha numeric key pad... If you find it easy then please install "SWIPE" from Nokia beta labs and experience the wonderful Swipe input method most of android mobiles have... (I think it's faster than ever... But personally I don't use it...)

If you're intending to use Alpha numeric key pad then I strongly advise you to use 'Short multi tap' patch alone with ROM Patcher...

i have been using this phone for almost 3months now.
At first, ive been having difficulties but now, I got the hang of it. Ive been able to install over 50apps and my phone still runs so smooth and i never had problem like phone hang. :) im looking forward to install over 200 apps... :) ahhahaa

I think you better point finger at you rather than blaming Nokia regarding 5530... First let me tell you, battery back up of 5530 Xpress Music is not a great one (to be honest) and my mobile has very rarely held its power for 2 days...! However with moderate usage it should last for a day and it's the normal condition of this mobile..! (What else can anybody expect from a 1000 mAh battery with a 2.9 great resolution mobile screen...?)

But for your other points, I can't really agree... Performance wise, Nokia 5530 is one of the best mobiles I've ever used... (I've used 5800, 5630, 5730, 5220, 5130 etc... and not only tested... I've used those models personally...) So I can say for sure, 5530 is great performance wise...

But let me tell you this too... Even the most brilliant phone on earth would be a pain in the A** for certain people... Because personal preference and lack of knowledge of what they're doing, so many people blame for nothing... For an example, someone would blame 5530 telling something like this...

"Nuwan says he's got more than 200 applications installed in his bloody 5530... and he says it's performing like a charm...! That's bullsh*t... Because I only installed 10 applications and my phone began to restart and it hangs a lot now...!"

For above common problem, my answer is very simple...

"Please be aware of what you're doing..."

Yes.. I've had times with 200 applications in my phone and still it ran very fast and smooth... But you know what...? In order to keep it that smooth, I researched a lot... a lot of painful time with patience... Start up controls, Tune ups, very careful software selections... Lots of trial and errors...! After all those I came up with the statement "I've got more than 200 apps installed and still my phone runs smooth..." and when someone else comes and shout here "I installed 10 and my phone is bloddy slow.." I can only laugh for his childish statement...!

So I would say like this...

"If you guys are not in to Smart mobiles... Then please buy something normal and get used to it.. Or else, stop barking here...!"

I have been using(not a correct word here) nokia 5530 model around 10 months.i had such a worest experience with nokia, initally the battery backup was around 2 days but now not even a day :-(. My handset hangs like anything while playing music and other activities.So please don't spend your money for the brand names rather than quality...
