hi guys
i have got this phone 2 weeks back..the phone is awesome..i got it for 11.5k
the phone is worth buying..
as many of the comments say that it has many cons..but i dint notice any of the cons with my phone..and regarding battery life..discharge it completely and then recharge then it will last for longer time..
and camera is good..but not as good as n73 but far better than 2 mp cameras..
and sound clarity for the mp3 player is very clear and it is awesome..
it is crystal clear..
totally it is worth buying..as a student i prefer the phone..may b it is less featured for buisness persons..
but it is the best..

I like this phone but its irritating because it's heavy. why doesn't nokia create phones that are slim and slide able

had this phone for about 2 weeks i love it to death but the phone does have probs, from what i have read its only outside of uk that this phone has probs? im not sure y and i want to know y and if its fixable, the main prob is that the phone restarts itself randomly at times and mainly during calls, ill talk for about an hour and it would reset itself, sometimes it resets itself during other times like applications or music etc, im not sure y it does that but im hoping they would come out wtih a solution for this.
battery life i guess its ok only last me for a day with pretty heavy usage, music for hours talking for 1-3 hours 100 text for that day and my battery would die. luckily it dies out when im about to sleep usualy.
music quality is awsome but yes it does lack base. i found out if u turn stero widening u would get better sound and volume out of it.
camera quality sucks, was a lil disapointed that its a 3.2 mega pixel and it takes ok pictures. when i post those pics up on my comp the pics come up with some faded lines. noticeable but not too bad. also when i take pics on my phone and i try to zoon in on letters u cant really read them. my pda 1.3 megapixel even could read letters when zoomed in. the video is alright i guess its decent. i wish they made this phone a lil better, but i still wouldnt trade this phone for any other phone. well not yet i guess.
soo i guess this phone rocks but theres some flaws, ur gonna have to find out if those flaws bother u enough to not get this phone but i personalily love this phone so hope this helps

To Metor58 - yes I can help you - read this forum. Your question has been answered many times already!
And to JM2008 - I agree with everything you say. Another UK user here and I've experienced no problems similar to those that have been described on here.
Maybe it's a problem with phones sold outside of the UK? But surely the firmware would be the same?

If u dont care abt camera tht is 3.2mp....Then i advice U to go for 5700.It has only 2mp camera[even though its great]..but the sound & quality is great....n the big diff is Its symbian[5700].....5610 lacks tht...

this fone rocks my world..great friend while on the go...music quality absolutely tremendous..although the bass lacks...still i have never heard clear sound like this from any portable device even from dedicated mp3 player..not even from ipod..i love its music..its display catch my eyes always..the color..wow....photos r below average...to all those music lovers...absolutely recommended for this cool looking small device..i am very happy with my new fone

JM2008 - I agree with you completely. Like you, I'm in the UK and have had no problems similar to any mentioned in this forum. The contacts come up regardless of whether its texts or calls, and regardless of whether I have the country code in or not. The sound quality is great, with no interference, it's never frozen and my battery lasts 3 days on average, and longer sometimes. The camera takes great pictures and the flash is much better than any other non-xenon type that I've used.
The ONLY think mine has done, is occasionally the music player stops and goes through the "updating library" process, like it does when you first turn it on. It's done it about 3 times in 3 months, so nothing to get annoyed about really.
So, is it something to do with phones sold outside of the UK?

You can't just say to people "Don't buy this phone"...
What about all of the other 5610 users who are more than happy with the mobile phone - including me.
I have NOT had any problems with the phone, my contacts come up correctly (none of this adding the country code prefix in), the battery life is good - lasts 3days - with HEAVY usuage (including calls, and video/mp3 playback), the slider key is fine, the phone has never crashed, the music player is high quality (I don't suffer from any 'bubble' noises) and I've had this phone for over 2 months!
Also, is it me - or do UK users (which I am) not have any problems with this phone? As most of the complaints are from users from different countries?

my phone went scilent when it was playing music...it restarted...when i put in pin i only see white screen..blinks couple of times and thats it...its not working...i thought the problem might be with sd card and i was right when u take it out phone starts and works normaly...dunnu what happened with the card..mabe wrong format=) it was only 1gig..and i got it with the phone... then i updaited the firmware to 04.81...but there's another problem...after turnig the phone on and playing mp3 for about an hour the phone hangs for 10 or 20 sec and the player starts updaiting the library...if you dont turn the phone off this bug wont apear...it apears after restarting or turning on the phone...and this new firmware 04.81 is not helping.

Everytime when I receive a text message while I listen to the music player, my nokia 5610 freezes….Mine too, When I was listening to music same happened to my nokia, but this time no text message, all of a sudden my phone froze and the display turned to white and started blinking just like a VGA card faliure.

after i updated my firmware from 4.20 to 4.81, cracking sound playing my music files are still there...Sigh..I have the same problems updating to the latest firmware! ...It seems my phone doesn't have problems with crackling sound but when I manage paired bluetooth devices It reboots every time.

to marcus- sorry for pissing you off. i was confused with the other comments here that i mistaken you for another comment.
anyway, since MOST of us are practically complaining in MOST aspects of this bloody phone, it is safe to say that this phone really SUCKS! it did not meet the expectations and standards of a MUSIC PHONE. would you believe that a phone like this will have a bubbly sound(kinda creaky) when playing songs?! damn!
and yeah, i also experience the phone going blank sometimes. not only in games but just by any circumstance. the phone also restarts!maybe nokia should try to freeze in distributing this phone to the market.

Read a lot of reviews about pic quality, music quality. Could someone throw light on the sound clarity WHILE ON A CALL.Nokia phones are beleived to handle all rough handling like falls etc.From the reviews I feel its diff for 5610..Is it true

I have been using this phone for over 3 weeks and love it very much. Well yes it is not perfect but I do not regret this purchase overall.
My phone came with the older v4.20 firmware which has problems like music crackling and phone hanging (forcing me to remove the battery). However most of the problems were gone after updating it with the v4.81 firmware.
Things that I like:
- very slim as a slide phone
- amazing QVGA (240x320) screen (great color and contrast and hardly see "pixels")
- excellent java performance (loading times, gameplay smoothness etc.)
- superb music quality (true to its claims)
- music slider!
The camera is truly 3.2MP (2048x1536) and is obviously better than any 2MP models. It has autofocus (real press half/press full button) which is really accurate and useful for close-up shots. Read reviews, look at sample shots and decide for yourself. But you do need good lighting condition - dark areas/night shots are very grainy like most phone cameras.
Battery life of this phone actually meets my expectations. Many others who are complaining about this probably has not fully discharge/recharge it enough cycles, or has a non-genuine battery, or is simply asking too much from this tiny device! Playing music (on headphones and with screen off) does not really drain battery that much. The battery only drains fast when playing video, playing java games and capturing photos/video continuously.
I don't know if every Nokia 5610 all over the world has the same built quality, but mine seems well built. The sliding mechanism is very very good and the keypad never get scratched by the top slider, ever! The music slider key is also very solid and does not feel like it's gonna crack or break off as long as I don't abuse it.
As for the battery cover issue - okay it's true you feel like you just broke it everytime you "pry-open" it, but of course it does not really break. This could have been designed better.
Okay this is a phone not a video camera but still, I could not capture video at QVGA 30fps as Nokia claims in the spec. I could capture video at 128x96, 176x144, 352x288 or 640x480, but all at 15fps only! I could not find any setting that allows me to change it to 30fps.
Also, I could not play QVGA video smoothly at 30fps, again as in the spec. I tried more than a dozen 3GP and MP4 converter tools to create the video files for my phone, none of them so far could let me play anything more than about 20fps smoothly. The video seem to "lag" if the fps exceeds 20 or so. The best encoder that gives me the smoothest video so far is Freez 3GP video converter - the lag is less obvious, but still noticable sometimes.
The phone specs also claim it could play AVC MP4 files but I tried with no luck.
Anybody knows a video converter that creates good quality 30fps video files and plays smoothly on this phone, please let me know! Otherwise, hopefully a new firmware version in the future will fix my problems!
