I switched to T-Mobile from At&t in November. Since then I have had nothing but problems. First the Hot spot service was down for 3 weeks. Due to bad weather in Washington. After that was fixed I have not had consistent Hot-Spot service yet. I too have called several times and get several answers. The latest is that the phone has a software problem. That there is no resolution date for this problem. They then gave me a $20.00 credit for my next bill. That does not help me with my horrible service at home.
What I did learn is if I take my battery out I will receive temporary WiFi. They call it a hard reboot.

Transition from GSM to WiFi degraded slowly after few months. Requires everyday booting. Music player shuts off when flip is closed;leaving flip open is pocket makes no sense;a bad design. Battery degraded over few fews months. Handsfree set sucks, bad quality audio;volume rocker, memory-insert-Lid, feel cheap.
Pros: key-buttons, loud speaker

I have had the Nokia 6086 phone for 7 months now and it keeps loosing connectivity at home. It also has problems finding the wifi service when I get home (using the T-moblie HotSpot@home router). I called T-mobile several times and get a different excuse each time. One technician told me it was the sim card, the other one told me it was the Nokia phone. Then they tried to make my _buy_ a Samsung phone for $179. But I paid so much for the system in the first place, it should work! Then they replaced the Nokia phone with the same model but a new one. Voila! The problem still persists. I live in an area where there is no tower, so it seemed like a really good idea to get this system, but the number of dropped calls and unavailable service is really not worth it. Anyone have a solution besides canceling ($200 fee)?

I have had isuues with the phone's inability to log on to T-Mobile's WiFi network. I have called T-Mobile several times and chewed on them to get their system fixed. It seams to be working because this problem is much better. Don't put up with sloppy service!

I have rated this phone terribly for several reasons: first, it advertises mp3 playback but for all intents and purposes, it is worthless as an mp3 player. the player will stop if the phone is closed, won't advance to the next song automatically, can't accept playlists, etc etc. sure, it _can_ play an mp3 but i was hoping it might actually be worth doing so with it. to me, i feel like the mp3 support was just purely a marketing ploy.
second, this phone is locked down so badly java apps are practically worthless because _none_ other than the default installed ones can access any data. gmail's awesome java app? worthless. google maps or any of the other map java apps? worthless. it tells you to change the permissions for the java app to allow data, but this simply cannot be done on this phone, not even the hackers have figured out how to work around the lock down that has destroyed the [potential] usefullness of this phone.
so great features don't mean anything if nokia is going to cripple this phone, and until they stop crippling/locking down all the useful functions on their phones, i won't buy them again. my motorola V3 didn't have any of these problems...

Here is another glitch I have found. I have gone around downtown Houston and "collected" saved WiFi networks so that as I would go from place to place the phone would automatically connect to the various WiFi networks.
After a while my phone quit automaticaly connecting to the networks, even my home network. I found out that there is a limit on the number of saved networks you can have. I you have somewhere around 10 saved networks the phone will stop automaticaly connecting. Deleting the extra saved networks solved the connection problem.
Anyone else have this problem?

I am using the 6086 WiFi connection and it works OK. I got rid of the T-Mobile Hot Spot router and went back to my Microsoft "B" router because I could not get the Hotspot router to work with secruity enabled - It was a open connection. I have also added a range extender to my network to pick up the dead spots in my house.
My problem is that the phone will not transition from WiFi to T-Mobile network under any WiFi connection. I get disconnected. Anyone else having this problem?

I am also disappointed by the music player on the T-Mobile Nokia 6086. I looked up on Nokia's web site and the 6086 is suppose to have a "real" music player. I also asked Nokia about the missing music player and they said that the carriers can modify the software (add/delete) on the phone. You will also see some extra junk/trial games on the phone that T-Moble wants to sell you and you can't delete. With only 4 or 5 mb of memory I suspect T-moble deleted the music player and added junk games. Thanks T-Mobile.

I am definately disappointed by the music player on the T-Mobile Nokia 6086. Playing songs one by one is absurd. How can they call that a music player?

i was wondering if you use your minutes if you are on a wifi connection for example your home router..i was just wondering if its free or not. if you dont buy the hotspot plan..and i was also wondering if anyone is bothered by the music player..and that you have to manually play the next song after one has finished..it doesnt continously play.

Does anyone know how to keep the display light on for as long as I want, not just for 15 seconds? I do Field testing at night with the phone and need it to stay "lit" for at least 1 to 2 minutes.

I have the Nokia 6086. I use it on wifi all the time. It works pretty well. Occasionally there are some hiccups in the signal on wifi. My phone doesn't connect automatically all the time. The networks are saved to my preferred networks list and have great signal strength. It just won't connect. I have to manually go through the menus to get it to connect to my networks. I am still figuring it out.

Does anyone have any idea of how I can find out what my phones MAC address is? I need to connect to a WiFi with MAC exclusion, so I need to add the phone's MAC number to the safe list, but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks!
