Hey ppl, sorry to tell yah, but i do believe that this phone is a sub version of teh 6280 which has much better specs than this. It has a 2MP camera and a vga camer on the front for video conferencing. It also has 3G. And i cud be wrong but i thought 3G worked wherever there is a network supporting it. I didnt know there was a diff between 3G UK and 3G USA.

    This is a defenite 3G American Phone.. with a 3G frequency of 1900Mhz UMTS!!

    Im still hoping for a Dual Mode 3G UMTS..

      Im sorry to tell you this.. This phone is only for the US market..

      The 3G capabilities for this phone is only for the US market.. it has a 3G technology that no country in the world has or uses..

      The 3G capabilities on this phone is running on the 1900MhZ 3G UMTS..

      But Countries around the world only uses 2100MhZ and there is no phones out there right now that has dual mode UMTS capabilities yet..

      I wish they will have do.. i really like Nokia phones that are made for the Europe and Asian market.

          This phone is amazing and i am waiting for this mobile. It's having all the latest feature along with slider phone , acually i am afraid of strate phones and i don't like flip one, so this one is perferect for me.

            Believe me, once you see the screen resolution on this bad boy you will be blown away. You can't knock the phone, just the carrier. But Americans are cheap, so cingular took out the flash and lower the mega pixels to reduce cost.....its an awesome phone.

              look, i dont see the reason for insulting this phone, a mid class phone is just the thing people are looking for, if u want 2/3MP, get a camera!

                That's weird this phone is not even out yet.. and seems to be older than my phone..

                  Why is almost everyone insulting this phone? come on, I mean I know that they downgraded the camera from a 2mp to a 1mp, which is kind of stupid, but it does make some sense. Cingular wants the 6282 to be the mid-range phone with some nice extras, they want the N80 to be the high-end amazing phone with the extrememly high-resolution screen and 3mp camera (which would be a first in the Americas). Why is everyone saying it has a poor feature set? Does everyone hear hate the Nokia 6230 or the 6230i? it essentially has the same exact features, except this phone has a better screen, better video capabilities (VGA instead of QCIF) and an easier to find expandable memory type (miniSD) and a hot-swappable memory slot. This is a 3g phone designed exclusively for the Americas, which Nokia has never done before, and yes it is lacking the Video Call feature but that isn't popular in The Americas yet. So if you hate this phone so much, don't even bother with it. consider the other 3 slider phones that WERE intended for Europe and every other country, the 6280 (3g),6270(no 3g, quadband), and 6211/6212(no 3g). Summing it up, The Americas get good phones later than the rest of the world, and sometimes don't get them at all, but we just have to deal with that. As far as American phones go, this is pretty nice.

                    1 megapixel camera is good enough for me.. however the QCIF video is always crappy on Nokias and SE phones too. I hope the N80 has decent video capture and playback otherwise I'll get a Samsung next.

                      1 megapixel is quite shoddy and the 10MB internal memory is poor but excellent display screen, and its trying to be like the D600, not happening

                        Yes there can be 1900 twice, because Cingular's 3G network uses 1900 (and 850 later on) for their UMTS network, unlike the rest of the world that uses 2100.

                          To Mike:
                          I agree with you that this UMTS Nokia phone does not have a video call. But as you might have noticed and many people already know one simple fact: For United states we always get the lowest functional phones.

                          And there is no difference here, whether it's Nokia brand or Samsung or Sony. As long as it is for United States, it got to be the lowest model! We first have to wait from six months to one years before we get european models!

                          It's a shame but reality!

                            I just noticed, it doesn't even have a "Video Call". I hope it will not be over priced since there are no Fake Video Call.

                            Yes, Video Call on today's UMTS is just a gimmik to grab more $$$ from comercially brain-washed childish kids (Video Call quality is horrible and no better than on typical computer camera).

                            Be mature. Buy a simple and reliable Nokia phones without UMTS and other crap.

                              First of all there is a mistake.
                              Nokia 6282 is UMTS 850/1800/1900 (there can't be 1900 two times).

                              Secondly with all my love to durable and simple Nokia phones , I don't understand why this phone does not have 900 frequency? This is not a trully international phone.

                              I'd rather stick to simple and durable Nokias without UMTS or whatever else B.S.
                              At least 6170 and 6101 are real international phones (and the hell with Cingular/ATT crappy 850 frequency). I use the best, which is T-Mobile and all normal Tri-Band phones match to T-Mobile perfectly!
                              (1900 that's it!)

                              So, my dear Cingular friends, Nokia 6282 is for you. That is what you deserve for sticking with that Carrier!

                                Hey guyz i tink wot nokia hope 2 do wit d n6282 is 2 creat a middle range phone affordable 2 pple unable afford d n70s and its likes...It may not b best in d market and i dont tink nokia intended it that dt way..It is just a middle price fone and i think dt is thoughtful of nokia

                                  FORGOT TO MENTION ONE LITTLE THING:

                                  The word Megapixel and the word Digital camera mean nothing!

                                  WHY?

                                  Because look for Samsung digital cameras on http://dpreview.com and also look at some HP, CASIO AND KONICA-MINOLTA brands and their "digital cameras" everage rating!

                                    There is nothing special about Nokia 6282 neither about any other so-called Megapixel phone.


                                    FIVE REASONS NOT TO BUY phone with resolution of 1mp, 2mp or even 3mp (unless 3mp has an optical zoom and shutter speed control)
                                    1)-those phones are well over-piced because of that fake camera gimmic advertisement
                                    2)-You won't be able to print decent 4x6 photos from those phones (not even from Sharp 903!!!! Sharp 903 doesn't have real flash and no sutter speed control, that's why unless you take photos on bright daylight, you will get tone of noice in printed 4x6 photos).
                                    3)-The batterry capacity between
                                    800mhz and 1500mhz on those phones will drain your talk time if you take 10-20 photos a day!
                                    4)Neither Nokia nor Motorola or LG and not even Samsung can manufacture decent digital cameras yet!
                                    5)For the price of $400-$800 you can buy
                                    the best regular Nokia phone (with no camera or with add on VGA joke) + the best 3mp-7mp digital camera ( best cameras today are:
                                    Nikon 7900 with 7mp, Canon S80 with 8mp and Panasonic's FX9 and LX1 (6mp/8mp)

                                    Be mature, smart and don't be fooled by comercial megapixel gimmics!

                                      NOKIA are getting owned again and again,
                                      they launched series 60 all symbian models only to make a step back(6233), as the didnt really offered nothing more than problems(bugs,Viruses,complicated aplications that never worked)to save some reability,
                                      the few clamcell attempts failed as they become oversized(N90) and now they are using pop ups (like 6280) ignoring (again) the fact that people preffere clamcells,
                                      they entered the mp war with "quality" and expensive Carl Zeis lenses but the "cheap" K750 owned them and so they abonded the Carl Zeis expensive lenses in a try to be competitive(N80).

                                      What are they going to proove with this one megapixel phone?
