Anonymous, 09 Dec 2009and as for the 'forgetting to put the 3' on the keypad, now... moreHey mate, I'm all for offering a range of devices that do or do not include all the capabilities you address. However, the Nokia 6700 slide comes dressed in playful colours and is displayed in Nokia's own product shots with a live chatting application. In other words, this device is targeted at a youthful, always-connected consumer whose handset usage is likely to require moving relatively large amounts of data -- an expensive proposition over cellular networks, but virtually free with wi-fi. Therein lies the basis for my criticism of this handset. It's an illogical match of features and package, which is why I said of Nokia's future in my original post. "If this new model is any indication of what's to come, it's not looking good."

Doug, 09 Dec 2009Calling the lack of wi-fi the "only" downfall of this phone... moreand as for the 'forgetting to put the 3' on the keypad, now, that really is a silly statement isnt it??? why would they do that as the number '3' comes as standard on phones or havent u noticed? and if it didnt have '3' then it wouldnt work properly would it??? wifi doesnt come on handsets as a standard feature as yet, at the moment thats a luxury thing to have, if u want wifi, go an get a phone that has wifi....i think most people are missing the point of a mobile phone these days any way, if u want a good camera get a digital camera, if u want a good music player then get an ipod, if u want gps get a tom tom and if u want wifi get a laptop.

Doug, 09 Dec 2009Calling the lack of wi-fi the "only" downfall of this phone... morewell lets just say i work for a mobile phone company, and i know for 100% that nokia dont just make and design a phone and the stick to it for years to come....far from it, they are constantly bringing out different styles for different people, which is all i was trying to state the 1st time i commented. thouch screen phones, for people who want it, wifi phones for people who are alsways using internet, phones with gps on there for people who travel alot! its all out there ya know . . .

Anonymous, 08 Dec 2009yes deffo, without doubt it should have wifi ect but that i... moreCalling the lack of wi-fi the "only" downfall of this phone is a pretty silly statement, considering its target market. It's an omission as serious as forgetting to include, say, a number "3" key. Despite all the hoopla about large-footprint touch-screen smart phones, feature-rich compact devices such as this will be at the centre of Nokia's resurgence -- if only they can get them right. If this new model is any indication of what's to come, it's not looking good.

But if it's to be successful for the always-connected social network set, leaving out WLAN/UPnP was a HUGE miscalculation. To have included wi-fi would have saved the kids a lot of money on data fees, no?
