For e'one with volume problem, the soln is very easy. Nokia 8800's speaker is on the upper rt corner of the phone,it's not in the middle cause the camera located at the upper lt. Thus if you place it on ur lt ear,the phone has to be backward to get close to rt corner. On the opposite, if u place it on ur rt ear, place in forward. It's goona b OK now.

I have had this phone for a couple of years and I love it - it may not suit everybody, as it does not have a lot of features, but it enables me to do what I need to do FAST and FAILSAFE! There is no waiting for screens and lack of keystroke catch-up that you have with the N series phones. But now my battery life is almost nil. Is there any other phone which operates similarly to this one? Or is a newer version of this one available (which is not gold)?

I've had this phone for a few years now & it's a decent phone. There's better phones for the money, you buy this one mainly for fashion. People turn their heads & say ooh when they see you with this phone. Feature-wise it's lacking, there's no memory card expansion, the camera is pretty weak... but worst of all is the battery life. I have about 4 batteries and have to rotate through them daily because it dies so fast! Also the reception isn't as good as I had hoped. All in all, if you want a fashion phone this is for you. If you want something that does a lot of things look elsewhere.

I'm recommending OEM battery its capacity is 750mAh. I just bought one and it wroks very well with no problem to stand by 48 hours. But i didn't check its duration yet but I think it should not bad. But not worth to buy original from Nokia since too expensive.

For those of you who use the 6x battery, can that battery be recharged using the 5x charger that came with the 8800? Thanks for the clarification.

Can anyone help me out please. I went to Nokia store yesterday trying to buy the BP-6X battery for my 8800 but the Nokia sales manager discouraged me. She said it is not compatible with the 8800 since the BP-6X is for sirroco. They had a case where in someone bought the BP-6X batt and used it for 8800 but it did'nt work. Could'nt charge the batt after it was drained. The BP-6X battery they are selling is made in china (is there any difference where the battery is made?)Shyould I go on and risk buying it anyway? Please advise. Thanks

Nice phone, classics.
You can increase battery working time, by mounting sciroco model battery.

I had been looking at this phone for a few years now, before it was even introduced to the US. I always dreamed of owning it. Finally, my phone died a month ago and it was time for a new one. I checked this one out and read about the horrible battery life problem. Yet I was optimistic and went ahead and got a barely used one off of ebay. Well, it's true. The battery life SUCKS. And for me that's a huge problem because battery life is extremely important. And the battery meter on the side of the main screen would go from full to one bar without anything in between. My batteries only lasted about 30 minutes talking, and half a day on stand by. I realize that this might be because it is a used phone, but I doubt it. So I went ahead and bought two new batteries on ebay. One was a "longer life" aftermarket battery. It was just as bad. Then yesterday my battery from Hong Kong arrived. I heard that the BP-6X battery for the Luna worked so I tried it out. It is a fairly large improvement, but the battery life still is nowhere near what I hoped it would be. the problem with the battery meter on the side also seems to be fixed with the BP-6X.
All in all, I would highly caution anyone looking to buy this phone. It's definitely not meant to be a primary phone. Unless you plan on charging it throughout the day, this is not the phone for you. It's beautiful, but barely functional.
