ok this phone is all about the design. if you want one which is a sophisticated, and unique looking phone, that has the "bare essential" features on it, this is for you. you will also need to pay a high price for it, as at the moment it's the most expensive phone on the uk market. i should know... i sell them! however, in my opinion you can buy a phone for a lot less (free on pay monthly), and you will still have a unique, and upto-date design eg. se. w900i etc. plus you'll get more value for money. things like -option to extend memory, better camera, and mp3 player. to sum up, you may aswell go for something that you can afford, has a great design and has better features.

no problems with my phone.
it does everything i need.
to the people who moan about the poor battery life i suggest this:
next time do your research before spending a lot of money on an expensive phone. the small battery in the 8800 is well known, hence why there are two supplied with the phone. if you did your research and knew the facts then you wouldnt be surprised and wouldnt feel the need to keep posting the same old messages about poor battery life ...YAWN ....

I feel this handset has no end of problems. For those of you who have paid alot of money for the phone, i feel sorry, as you may well be tied into a contract and stuck with it for 12/18 months. Every one i know who has had this phone have had no end of software issues and yes, the battery if rubbish. the only positive thing i can say is it looks good, and this is possibly the only reason people want the phone because it certainly not for it overwhelming features!

Dear Friends,
In Malaysia, the Nokia 8800 is 99% original Nokia warranty. The ones that are not under Nokia are called AP imports and to be honest are better !!!

We have two of the 8800 mobile phones in which are used in our company. Both have been in the service center more than with the owners. Everytime we take them for servcie, always can see tens of these phones are there for repair. Software problem, hang up on calls at the middle of talk. not charging and etc.. to be honest it does not worth the high price at all. Better off getting a lower version and done with it. The only thing that nevers goes to service center is the good looking box for the 8800.

I've been having the phone since August 2005. Problems are quite serious, but I can live with them, once I couldn't live without the 8800. Among them, the battery consumption is high, and the battery meter, unstable, inacurate and unproportional. By "high" I mean, I don't talk much, after unpugling the phone after a overnight charge, on the morning of day one, I better be home by night on day two, otherwise I'll run out of battery on the street. Since a I like to discharge batteries before charging, this has been a serious problem for me, even though the phone has 2 batteries, one lasts 30% more then the other (the "2 days" is the best one). Other software problems includes the usual turning off for no reason, abnormal behavior. And I have to say, the 8910i was way much more confortable to carry around, and to talk on. The 8800 is a fashion statement, an exclusivity, loving it is like loving your drug addicted son, wich happens to be a model, you know you should fix him, but there is not much you can do about it.

I bought the Nokia 8800 despite all the critics that i saw on the web. You do not hear these types of critics because if they come from "talks" then its from owners rather than from gossips of people who do not own one.. I think it's a great classical mobile which represents you as a professional. No other phone can look so classical, and great looking with all the features you need.

i just think that a lot of people are being over critical about this phone.
perhaps this is because they cant afford it.
perhaps it is because they are comparing it to K750i's, 6230i's and such.
if so then they are missing the point. this phone is all about design and quality, it performs as well as my nokia 6230 from last year, with the exception of not having a memory card, and it works great.
it hasnt crashed, it doesnt turn itself off and the battery lasts nearly two days (based on approx 20 mins calls per day and some texting).
this is more than enough for my needs, and it does all this with a great sense of style. you also cant beat the feel of the cold stainless steel case when you first pick it up in the morning.
to sum up. i read the spec of this phone and read user opinion before purchasing this form,. i made an informed choice and because of this, i havent been dissapointed.
anyone thinking of purchasing this phone - go ahead you will love it !

To Lee:
This 8800 "phone" will never be as classic as 8910.
I don't "moaning" but i speak with facts and through my experiences.Maybe the truth hurts and some people don't want to see it.
Like i said this 8800 "phone" is a waste of money and time.If you want a good looking casing more than £550 and not a decent, reliable phone go for it.This phone is a good looking expensive bibelot and nothing else.
Definitely i wouldn't want to buy a faulty phone just because of its look.I try not to convince anybody not to purchase this "phone" but to give usefull information as a user of this "phone".
If you want to purchase this phone is at your own risk.
See only the voting results and get your own conclusion.
I wish you good luck and all the best with your 8800 and your phone won't proved to be a faulty and not worthy phone like the majority of 8800 owners posting here.

ps: the serene from B&O isnt really an alternative.
it is basically a samsung mobile which you pay a premium for just because B&O have designed it to look like a piece of 'LEGO'
-no thanks
