thanks 'singlelayer'...
i purchased it barnd new on ebay. complete with retailer reciept in case i need it.
to 'kourias g' - stop moaning about this phone. everyone knows the battery life isnt as good as other phones-perhaps this is the reason why nokia supply TWO batteries with the phone, PLUS a desk charger where you can charge the phone AND the spare battery at the same time.
at the end of the day, i have read all the negative comments on this site and have still bough this phone. the reason ?
because it is DIFFERENT.. it isnt just a plastic shell crammed full of gadgets, it is a piece of cool design, just like my Apple Powerbook, my ipod nano and my Omega Speedmaster watch.
the thing they have in common - original, high quality design.
with regards to a comment that this phone isnt 'exclusive' , i would use the term: EXCLUSIVE MAINSTREAM' to describe this phone. it is a top end mass produced phone. sure, for true exclusivity i could go purchase a vertu phone, however for the regular person, spending over £3000 pounds on a mobile phone is,frankly, ridiculous.
to anyone thinking of purschasing this phone, got for it. the looks and feel of it more than make up for any features it doesnt have. everyone comments on this phone and it has all been positive so far.
one final comment with regards to the battery life: my phone arrived yesterday (saturday) morning. i fully charged it at 0900am.
it is now sunday at 1500 in the afternoon. i have made 10 mins of calls on it, downloaded a java game, played it for approx 30 mins, sent and recieved approx 20 texts and have been showing it to all my family and friends , and the phone is still showing three bars charge left. i dont think that is too bad, plus i have a spare battery on the desk charger all charged up, a car charger and a charger on my desk at work so battery life isnt going to be an issue for me !
if you people are happy with you 8910's and 8910i's then great, keep with them, however they are 'so last year'!
i look forward to a happy future with my 8800 !!!!!

To jaze101:
It's your right not to believe mine and generally all the negative comments on this phone but how can you explain the majority of these indignated, unsatisfied, disappointed people reviews?
Don't give as an anwer that excuse again that people can't afford it and is jealous.
Maybe you are in the minority of happy and satisfied Nokia 8800 people but this is Nokia 8800 - user opinions and reviews board and not a board for people that actually want or like this phone.Nobody tries to slate this phone and nobody is pretending up nothing.
I only speak with facts and through my experiences.
I doubt that you owned 8910 or 8910i because you should have already known that there isn't a downside issue of very poor signal and very short battery life as you false stated (atleast on 8910).
8910(not 8910i) is the most decent, reliable, quality phone even to 8800 and 8910i which supposed to be better as an upgrade.
If you want to compare these three particular phones here is my comments.
On 8910i i noticed that screen quality was not sufficient,as the display had bad colour balance and was less comfortable.
The picture looked dim. It’s obvious that 8910i was equipped with a colour screen just because it’s fashionable, but the model became rather controversial due to it.
Shorter operating time than its predecessor. In case of 40 minutes of talking and 1 hour of using other applications the phone worked only about 4 days, although Nokia 8910 had 6 days of operating time.
Java is not considered to be a great virtue of a renewed version. Small phone memory doesn’t allow you to use Java-applications in reality.
I find nothing better on this phone to 8910 and i believe that 8910i is a marketing trick and created by Nokia for only marketing purposes.
As for Nokia 8800 as i stated in my previous post the capacity of 8800 is Li-Ion battery forms only 600 mAh, which is too short.
In average it worked for a day in case of an hour of talks, and i encountered fast battery discharge during the talk and phone turned off. With 30 minutes of talks the device lived till the next morning and turned off at the first call (two charge points). You should not trust the battery indicator. The device may be used not more than for a day, two days are possible only with little short conversations, NO use of other functions.
If you want somehow better battery life it's better to turn off the screen saver and use no bluetooth.
In conclusion the best phone of the above is 8910,the WORST is 8800 and the worst thati have ever used.
Surely this "phone" has low battery life, functionality, performance and many software problems.
I know that you get what you give but this unfortunately doesn't happen with Nokia 8800.It's an expensive and not worthy phone.I wouldn't have a problem if it was a decent, reliable expensive phone.
With all these major problems it's remarkable that people still believe that this phone could be the phone of the year.
Period!!!!
P.S:I try not to convince anybody not to purchase this phone but to give usefull information as a user of this phone.

For those with the sense of taste, style, luxiry and exclusivity - why don't you go for the Serene from B&O the real masterpiece on the market? For those who do value status and splendour why don't you buy Vertu? The fact is - the Nokia 8800 is for every one else, for those who have no money for Vertu or Mobiado and those who lack sense of taste.
Nokia 8800 is a mass product, it is the phone with the illusion of exclusivity, so it is available in every shop.

Let me tell you something about the old 8 series of nokia especially the 8910 and 8910i because i own one too, these phones are one of the best before but the downside and i mean bigtime downside was the very poor signal and the very short life battery. They did a big improvement on the nokia 8800 though. You guys talk like you know the history of every 8 series of nokia. I, by the way love to buy expensive stuff not just phones not and I love to spoil my girl.
The nokia 8800 is by far the best looking phone and covers every individual needs from casual to executive! Too many lies I heard destroying the image of this phone. If your negative opinion was true even to the slightest then why the nokia 8800 is mobile of the year. You guys should stop posting lies and don't give feedbacks about the old nokia phones if your feedbacks is nothing but lies.
Accept the fact that most of you cannot afford this phone and you just take your envy, jealousy and all of the above here and "bs" around here. If you know how to appreciate style, class, beauty, fashion and functional gorgeous machine then this phone is for you! Never believe people post ideas negative comments about this phone.

Another issue that i would like to mention briefly is the battery life of this "phone".
The capacity of 8800 is Li-Ion battery forms only 600 mAh, which is too short.

I was an owner of all exclusive and high end/expensive mobile phones from Nokia product line(8850,8910,8910i,8800) and i assure you that Nokia 8800 is the worst phone i have ever used. The only phone which is a worthy, reliable phone from the above is Nokia 8910.That's why i have it until now.
I know that is only a phone but as a consumer i want the money i give for a product to reflect and worth its value.
If you want an honest opinion for Nokia 8800 is that this phone has extremely short battery life. You have to recharge it over and over again.
(2)Many software problems( eg:switches off by itself, low voice clarity, poor camera,etc.).
(3)Heavy like a brick. It has stainless steel body case and that's why is heavy.
(4)Keypad isn't completely ergonomic
(5)Very poor performance even inexistent.
I used both versions 3.60 and 3.78 and none of them work properly, although 3.60 had the most problems. With 3.78 version some problems are fixed and others remain.
I agree that this phone has good design but this doesn't help. This phone is a good looking expensive bibelot and nothing else.
Nokia should be ashamed for this Nokia 8800 rip off.
P.S:As for the fanatics owners or people who likes this phone they should be real, see 8800 problems and not praise this phone without a reason to do so.
You can't criticize others because you like this phone or you don't want to see the major problems of this phone saying as an excuse that they can't afford it or is jealous.Jealous of what.Knowing that this phone has major software problems ,ie:switching off by itself and not only, definitely i wouldn't want to buy a faulty phone just because of its look.

I have just ordered this phone. i bought it brand new without contract for £360.00. i reckon it is worth the premium.
i have had enough of mass produced plastic phones crammed full of features i never use and what EVERYONE ELSE SEEMS TO OWN and have decided to change priorities: i now want
a well designed and durable phone with high quality construction.
it has a camera and video recording and bluetooth-all i need.it may not be the best camera on the market but who cares, i own a digital camera for taking proper photos !
i expect this phone to be an investment and last me for two years.
it arrives tomorrow and i cant wait ! (a true sign of good design?)

The fact is - there is nothing unaffordable in 8800, Mobiado or Vertu are pretty high and one should make an effort to buy them but not 8800. I usually spend 500 - 600 $ on new mobile but if I like it really I can spend nearly 1k, I used to have 8910 and then 8910i and I expected 8800 more than any thing else but... it is not that perfect, as for the price - look at my post few lines behind - Panda X30 costs 200 bucks and has even more that 8800 does...

I had my nokia 8800 for 3 months now.. I must say this phone covers my needs.. looks, features, eyes that can't resist to check out my phone.. I love my nokia 8800! I talked to my wife over 4 hours a day continously and the battery never dies on me.
I don't understand why people are very jelous about this phone. Is it because its too expensive?
Well remember the saying if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen! This phone is very hot and sexy and very functional.. I had 3 seconds flat and I took the risk spending 800 US dollars and now I'm enjoying every second of it especially those who are jealous and can't afford this phone. Dream on people..

I can't understand why people believe that this phone could be the best of the year.
This phone has nothing to show and surelly has no decent features as someone stated before.
If you want a good looking casing more than £550 and not a decent, reliable phone go for it.
This phone is a waste of money and time.

I don't like my 8800, infact I'm planning to throw it out! I only got it for my 14th birthday last year and I'm already sick of it!
I would keep it if it had a MMC slot or atleast like 256mb worth of memory!

I work in a shop that sells phones and do not think the 8800 is very good, we have had several complaints about this fone, the main one being that as soon as you answer a phone you are disconnected it regulary drops calls and the key pad is just too small.I am a Nokia fan but do not rate this one at all, there are much better fones out there for the money
