yes is true the sapphire is not real i taked the phone to an expert (livorno-italy)and hes confirmed is a sintetic sapphire oane tru sapphire for this size is about 2000e

The sapphire is synthetic/man-made!!! Do you people have the slighest idea how much a sapphire gemstone of this size cost???!!!....even the worst quality ones; with this size cost more than the price of the phone!!! Don't be so lame to believe that this is a "real gemstone'!!!

For those who are still convinced the sapphire is genuine... here is a snippet from the website:
"The European association of professional jewelers has already made a name for it by frowning over why they called the stone embedded in the Nokia 8800 Arte Sapphire a “sapphire” – as they claim this name is to be used only with natural stones, while synthetic crystals can’t qualify. That’s another way you can fight for an own small on the market. At first, Nokia’s didn’t seem to bother much about this, but eventually they decided to keep the “Sapphire” part in, but refrain from using the “gemstone” word, that refers to real sapphires which were kept under the pressure of Earth’s crust for millions of years."

i work at optus and i sell the phone....
do u have factual evidence that the saphire is fake or are u basing it on ur opinion. cos that would be fake advertising if it was fake and nokia is a big company and i dont think they would beare stupid enough to do that.

its not fake!, u must have been a member with that contract company for a few years so they gave you a discount

when i first rang vodafone they said they had none in stock but some one rang me back and said they had quite a few in stock but it was not showing up on there system.

just got an upgrade with vodafone £325 for the phone plus £25 on a 18 month contract would have been £300 for the phone if i did not get stop the clock.

Well, this phone is different from the regular 8800 Arte by having a sapphire stone & partially covered with leather. I personally prefer the regular 8800 Arte as the brown leather will become dirty & looking bad in the long run. This sapphire AArte is also more girlish looking!

The sapphire is FAKE as i have just got one lol. Plus sapphires are blue and this one is brown and for a rare brown sapphire it would have cost me alot more than 299.99 for my upgrade

This is to the guys that were asking about my upgrade. Think i have had better offers than alot as that gentleman got offered £200 on a £50 month tariff. OUCH. My tariff is £18month tariff and 18 month commitment and paid £299.99 from customer services.

Guys, when did you get your phones? I just called Vodaphone and they told me they have none in stock, haven't had them in ages, only a very small limited batch came in, and they don't even have a date for when the next batch are due to come in?
Total nightmare as I dropped my Scirocco yesterday and and am holding the screen together with sellotape and won't settle for any other replacement!!
