It was inevitable. Nokia has just announced the 8800 which is the next model of the 88xx series of high end 'style' phones. No doubt there will be another version which uses different metal body. Check it out on the nokia website, and here as well.

The 8850 is pretty much obsolete. The only place you could find one would be ebay.

There are newer versions of the PC Suite, and I think can be downloaded from the Nokia website. Whether it will be compatible with the 8850, I don't know.

          G'day there...

I still have this gr8 mobile, however I'm running Windows-XP I can't get the PC Suite s/ware to work. I understand it will only work for older versions of Windows, Windows ME and under.

Any ideas of where I can get an updated version for the 8850 to work under the PC Suite s/ware for W-XP.

          TIA
          Thanking In Advance

Yeah I agree, I bought it as being in full working order so i'm sending it back. Thanks for your help. I'll have to get another phone instead! (Again)

Sounds like you've got a slightly dodgy phone there nate...presumably it was second hand and not preserved as new.
It doesn't pick up signals as well as newer phones, but not the problem you describe. The clock should be fine...I too rely on the alarm.

Just got one of these phones, I've wanted one for some time and the opportunity came to get one very cheaply. I've dispensed of my N-gage and Sony T610 to have one of these. They look SOOO cool. One problem I have though is with the Clock, it just doesn't keep time! It is very very slow. As a result I can't use the alarm which i rely on! Also the signal is very weird, it often goes from 4 bars to none and then back to 4 again when just sitting on the desk! It often goes when i open the slide and i have to wait for signal to come back before i can make a call! Anybody else had these problems??
Still a great little phone, Nate.

heh...I've owned this phone for 4 years now and it still so cool. I don't need any of the fancy colour screens, camera and stuff. A phone that lets you call people and receive calls, wow, those were the days.
My battery (original) still gives me 3-4 days standby and light use. So if yours is less, probably time to replace the battery.
Waiting to see what Nokia will produce next for the 88xx series before I want to give this up. Has to be small, stylish, and metallic.
