the first time i changed sim from different service provider (my unit is on open line, after the unit has been turned on, the providers name appeared on the screen but whenever i take names from the inserted sim, the communicator dispay is SIM card not ready. All text messaging on the front LCD are diverted to the outbox. When opened, and resend, the inner lcd would display "Telephone is turned off or not ready".
How could I remedy the problem? thanks

sandeep, 23 Jun 2008can any one tell me how to restore factory setting and how ... moreYou can mostly restore factory settings by pulling the battery out, reinstalling it and holding down shift control and F while the blue "NOKIA" screen is displayed - carry on holding them until you get the "do you want to format" screen.
Note that this will also delete any preinstalled content on the user disk - but there should be nothing critical there.
As an end-user, you can't upgrade the firmware since you need special hardware to put the phone into flash mode.

Lost the first 1, sold the 2nd 1 before i lost the first 1 and now having the 3rd one, bought it 2nd hand. I have to have it because it is the only phone with build in fax in it.. really useful for my business. but i have to bear with it bad features such as hanging prone, slow processing etc etc.. anyway, just upgrade the firmware to 6.27(0).. hope it solved my hanging problem.. any idea on how to speed up my beloved phone? i can be contacted at hizatul.empirical@gmail.com

Remove the battery and press Ctrl + Shift + F
Then put the battery while holding these three buttons. A formatting screen will appear asking you whether to format your device. If you want to reset it without losing any data, you just remove the battery and put it again without touching anything.

You can update software only at NOKIA outhorized service center. Web update is no longer supported by NOKIA. Latest update ver is 6.27(0).
Ful screen video is not posible with biult in real player couse of the many things. Screen resoluton, video playback resolution etc...

While starting up the device press and hold ctrl+shift+"f". This will hard format the device and install clean OS again. Procedure takes about 2 mins. Of course all data from phone mem (not mem card, if present) will be lost. So be sure to backup all necessary data from drive C:.
I love this phone so much that I actualy own 2 of them :)
