I wonder when we will come across a new update for the Nokia 9500 or perhaps a 9400. The update for 9300i was disappointing. I like to see the phone more active than ever like the P910i or the upcoming P990i. I love the concept of the communicator but if its gonna lack the functionality of the P990i, I probably will go for the Pseries. I mean P990i has a 2 MP camera, autofocus, flash, etc and good music features which is for sure anytime better than the current communicators.

I hope Nokia will release a communicator which is in the same level or better than the upcoming P990i. I love the concept of a widescreen and widekeyboard, but I have got very bored of the way the OS is. The N70 which I currenly use is so much better (Series 60) compared to the Series 80 of the 9500 I had.

Hopefully Nokia releases something for its communciator fans to boast about unlike the release of 9300i.

Communicator needs a complete revamp. Hopefully Nokia thinks that is necessary too.

please i wanna know whether N9300i has a radio? if it does not, can it be installed? is it possible for one to add features he wants in N9300i and make an order? if so how much will it cost if camera and radio is added to other features N9300i has. what are the MERITS and DEMERITS if these two more features(RADIO AND CAMERA) are added to it? thanks.

How can one transfer contacts having more than one number from the 6600 to th 9300i.
cos u can store only 1 phone and 1 Mobile in a vcf on to the PC. More than 1 entry is deleted by the nokia PC Suite.

This phone is absolutly amazing !!!
I had the Palm m515, iPaq 4150 and now the communicator 9300i and I thing it is the best equipment I ever had.
No faults quick and simple perfect for Nokia's "NO BULL" attidute.
                Highly recommended.

Comment on Antivirus software - I know about Norton Antivirus for Mobile phones is available for the Symbian 80 operating system (this means it covers the Nokia 9300 and 9500 series phones). It is probably worth getting antivirus software for these kind of phones as it is used in business and almost as a tiny laptop.

you can't install Windows Mobile on NOKIA 9300i
I tried iMate but didn't like it thats why I gave to my younger brother to play with it, but I think N9300i is far better then iMate in terms of batery, useability etc.

I have got the Nokia 9300i and have found that the address book searches all occurances of the part of a name or surname however, I wish there is a setting to search only from the start of the line.

I am using a bluetooth ear piece which works fine, but the shortcut on the phone (chr +left scroll) to start/stop the bluetooth, stopped working. I got a "bluetooth error" message. I searched Nokia's knowledge base, and can't even raise a support query in South Africa. This is dissapointing. I hope somebody might be able to help. Thank you.

Buy the Imate. The 9300 / 9500 Communicator series are dated and no where near the benchmark.

Windows mobile 5 is coming out with a push version of e-mail (like blackberry)... this will be available with the Treo 700w soon.

Ya Tomas - yes with the 9500/9300/9210, the pphone has a shared memory. So the more aplications you have the less is actually available for the contacts etc. Nokia does not say, but only 1000 full contacts are suggested as the limit, but I have 2,600. 1,400 absolutely destroyed (fractured) the 40mg memory of my old 9210i, & despite rebuilding the software the phone headed to the rubbish bin. The same happened with my 9500 after 1600 contacts and that phone is also full of problems. All software and contacts are loaded into internal memory at time of use, so cards are useless as storage devices. But does anyone know if there is an upgrade for the 9500. I like the form better than the E61

It the worst phone I have ever had!

                                      Details:
                                      - Really bad quality of platic covers (both sides) like in the cheapest "chinese toys"...
                                      - not good implemented applications!!!
                                      a) I cannot write e-mails/docs/SMS when my phone is receaving SMS... The jumping window is shown and it's so disturbing and irritating... solutions are:
                                      * to pray not to receive any SMS when you are writing.
                                      * going offline - this was officially suggested by NOKIA customer support... :-(
                                      b) E-mails - to much to criticise!
For instance 80MB is designed to store your e-mails even if you have 1GB MMC card - nobody in NOKIA has thought about that before...
BTW: this 80MB is not only for your e-mails/SMSes but System, temporary files, NOKIA applications (except games) and virtual memory!!!
                                      c) I cannot see my PowerPoint presentations well - why? I had asked about that and NOKIA informed me that less functionality is offered but they could not tell what functionality was supported, becouse they did not about that... who knows? the official suggiestion is just to try... :-(

I wish you kept away from NOKIA 9300/9500 - the worst mobile phones I have ever had!

Could anybody comment on antivirus software availability for this phone. Since it's been upgraded to WiFi I consider it an important issue. How real is the threat of viruses on Symbian phones?
