Except for its size and lousy battery, i like my Nokia 9500. I have a wireless LAN and i use my phone to login to yahoo messenger using IM+ and sometimes surf the net using its built-in browser. I can also access POP3 mail servers using Profimail. MP3 sound is ok. it has small speakers so don't expect too much. The qwerty keyboard is nice. I'm using a 1GB MMC card and the phone's loaded with lots of applications and games. I even have counterstrike and doom. Just don't install the apps in the phone memory. There's a rebooter software in case some apps hang-up or you can hold down and press CTRL-CHR-SHIFT while pressing K at least 5 times. To format, turn on the phone then while nokia is being displayed, press CTRL-SHIFT-F.

utter disappointment! i got my 9500 in December 2005. Within the first month of purchase, it was restarting on its own every other day, during which you couldnt make any call (or do anything else)! i have been running it without any MMC, suspecting that some virus was in my MMC but no use! Then i've flushed out memory, kept message boxes light, havent put MP3 or emails even, yet the phone gets dead slow and restarts on its own! it also takes time to bring up phone book and message box! basically, for the price i paid, it wasnt definitely worth it! I have my eyes on the E90... i see it's got 330MHz processor (compared to 9500's 150 MHz) and SYMBIAN 9 OS (compared 9500's SYMBIAN 7) so i hope the E90 wont disappoint me!

So all.. I'm using communicators since '97..
so here is some hints for you.
Your phone hangs often? Reformat it. Avoid to install cracked applications, games.
Not enough memory? When u see this msg, it says you are running out of free ram, usually there are a lot of applications running in the background. Like PC's memory resident programs, threads, they are hiding. Try to figure out what programs are eating your RAM, uninstall it, make it non-resident. For example, every antivirus programs has a memory-resident part.. it can be disabled easily. Anyway, there is a free program called Memory Monitor.. use it for monitoring free ram, running-killing threads, closing all programs etc.
Stability.. well, it is symbian. So go for the latest firmware..

Yes, it supports maximum 2GB MMC-s.
Yes, it can play movies full screen or windowed, no matter of the file size. My tip: you have to install Smartmovie on 9500 and also ur PC, use it to convert video on PC.
For example, the Pulp Fiction (more than 2hrs) converted to 9500 is about 450-500Mb, with 480*200 resolution. The mp3 sound quality is depends only your headset, 9500 has a mono speaker.

I have certain questions, if anyone please can solve, I'll b thankful & thanks is advance..... : Even though I am quite impressed with features of 9500 still i would like to know that whether it can support 2GB MMC (like 9300i) or higher or not. Secondly, I read it somewhere that there is possibility of its software instability. Another doubt that bothers me is can it play heavy mpeg 4 files like 300 mb or above or not or just simple music video files of 40-50 mb. How is the mp3 sound quality of this mobile ? does it plays video files in REAL Media player. Sound clarity is O.K or bad ? I will be really thankful if i get some info/clarity on the above mentioned doubts. Thanks is advance

I have been using this phone for over a year now and I love it. When am using it people will look at me and ask "Is that a Phone? It's huge!" but they didn't see what's on the inside. Once they get to see it, their faces will go crazy...you know when you get excited. All I could hear is unbelievable! I got this phone in Asia and I hardly see people here in USA using it. They're more on the flip phones. I feel so special I have this big ass phone because it could make me do a lot of stuff life internet especially. Other than it's size...I could not ask for more.

I'e been using N9500 for 2yrs, sometimes it hang, then I had to reboot it. No keyboard light for work in dark place. No touchscreen, so get use to akwardly joystick to browse the internet. Boring looking calendar application. Cannot fully support java? Don't count the speaker for multimedia (MP3). Stuttering video playback (3gp). Small cover display (there's an empty scape beside the screen. Slooow internet (with Pro XL).Not support HSPDA.
