Nokia 9 PureView gets Bluetooth certified

Vlad, 19 December 2018

The (in)famous Nokia 9 PureView is still vaporware at the moment, but that might change soon - either at CES in January or MWC in February. Three versions of it have just been certified by the Bluetooth SIG, a prerequisite step for the launch of any new smartphone.

They have the model numbers TA-1082, TA-1087, and TA-1094. The last one of those has also been spotted at other certification bodies in the past, such as 3C and MIIT, so the Nokia 9 is certainly on its way to the market - even if it seems to be taking its sweet time getting there.

The Nokia 9 will unsurprisingly have Bluetooth 5.0 on board, but this certification doesn't reveal any other details. According to past reports, the handset will have a 5.9-inch OLED display with QHD+ resolution, the Snapdragon 845 SoC at the helm, 8GB of RAM, and a 4,150 mAh battery. It should run Android 9 Pie from day one.

Its most distinguishing feature will undoubtedly be the back with its seven circular cutouts meant to house cameras (main RGB, wide-angle, tele, monochrome), a depth sensor, a dual-tone LED flash, and a mysterious sensor that could be there for laser-assisted autofocus.

This is how phones should be. "Getting rid of the bezels" is a stupid thing to waste time and resources on. The "notch" and "no bezel" trend is plain out stupid. Focus on practicality not on B.S.

I think he means by having notch.
