S40 is a symbian Operating System...it is the simple version of S60 as stated on Wikipedia...S40 is considered as the most user-friendly OS of Nokia..do not complain to much, if you want a complex OS, then choose Anna or Belle...there are so many OS to choose from, so be content.

Asha 303 is not a multitask-phone. So theres no "actively running in the background" of anything. And thats a good thing - no multitasking conserves battery and increases security. Obviously you can still listen to music/radio regardless.

Does this phone have same problem that Nokia X3-02 and Nokia C3-01 had, like they automatically get switched off sometimes?

So you cannot install sis or sisx apps. you have to stick with java apps only and also you have to compromise on multitasking as it is limited or not present in feature phones.
