Anyway the phone is a low end type its a s40. Today phone is widely use for browsing,Games.. and Asha 309 only support 2G network which is slower than 3G. Why cant noki recreate a new S60v2 phones with advanced features instead of s40? S60v2 like N70 is a high quality phone since it was released , so if nokia re-create again with adavanced features like 3.5G network, Wifi conectivity, high ROM, RAM memory, Youtube Stream, 8Mp Camera with Flash, video calling and more... i think its better and salelable than NoKIA asha.

loki, 02 Nov 2012its already available in the Philippines for P4,700. unlik... moreyes...available na in the philippines but there's cheap android here (the likes of myphone, cherry mobile and starmobile) that offers more! for example, the new Cherry mobile flare, 1.2ghz dual core processor with adreno 203 and 512 ram for 3999 only! and ang processor speed nya is same with the new galaxy s duos (but clock at 1ghz) pero value for money... 14k galaxy s duos vs 4k CM flare?! dont worry about the quality coz it is not CM's product... it is a rebranded device from karbonn india!

hf, 03 Nov 2012com on guys, it's just a cheap fone and what are you expect... moreand if they choose symbian, the app store is already at 100,000! and all for symbian... while on java, only 25,000 and only few are optimize for touchscreen!!!

and why i still dislike this (but considering this, in love with swipe UI..but still love the original one... the N9) is that it dont have photo social networking like molome (the instagram of symbian and blackberry) the reason why they need to choose symbian instead of s40! coz low end android has instagram! so alteast they could just choose symbian instead of s40 coz of apps available! and gosh... do you think big developers will develop apps for java/s40?! no... it dont even have VOlP client (skype to be exact)..while symbian, everything is possible!

hf, 03 Nov 2012com on guys, it's just a cheap fone and what are you expect... moreyeah.... you got a point...but dont forget symbian dont need that much too! only atleast 256RAM then it can run and most importantly MULTITASK!

i really hate nokia why they didnt choose symbian and just kill it and they choose s40 instead for the OS of low end market (but not that low end, there's cheap android out there that is smooth with dual core at price below $100 too!)... symbian dont need the latest of the latest hardware to run smoothly! and besides it need "outdated" specs like s40 have now! i mean whats the point of 1ghz processor but no multitasking?! multitasking is a need now eve nfor low end market!

and android is slowly but surely eating low end market as well! i mean you can get 512RAM and 1ghz processor running ICS for $97 only! so if nokia want to stay relevant in low end, better put symbian there! and besides compare to s40, which uses java apps, symbian is way better! and it has already 100,000 symbian apps! and symbian can run java apps! even in low end, they want 3D games! and symbian has that..why s40--they dont!

so i want nokia to reconsider symbian! i mean N8 can still run butterly smooth with belle refresh even it has the super outdated ARMv11 680mhz and 256RAM..which is pretty standard for low end(but not today, even low end runs on a dual core...but at least specs of a low end!)! so why not use symbian! at least they can still use the 100,000 apps of symbian! and the greatest symbian, the 808 pureview only runs on an outdated 1.3ghz processor also! with im pretty sure with 256 RAM! but still offers the best symbian can do! not that sluggish!

while this s40.. this is foolishness! i hate android but android can offer far more better! but if they choose symbian, then im so good with this! i'll even buy a dozen of this!

com on guys, it's just a cheap fone and what are you expect for ? it may have only 64mb of ram and 800mhz chip but on s40, it's as fast as 512mb of ram and 1ghz chip on android 2.3. the only thing nokia should improve is their appstore, both quantity and quality. nokia fighting !

by the way, dont buy entry-level androids , they are extremely laggy and have a lot of bugs.

LG Optimus L3 shuts down, everytime i open wi-fi or gallery. .Hate it

Bought it for my daughter, love it for its simplicity. It does internet browsing remarkably well.

I was stumped for a while on how to actually get mp3 music on to the device.. It has a USB port but no USB cable is included in the box. I tried e-mailing it to myself but the e-mail app doesn't want to deal with mp3 files that large.

So you can use the Nokie PC Suite software and Bluetooth.. Or in my case I happened to still have a micro-SD to regular SD card adapter (still had it from my old Nokia E51. ;) ) so I was able to plug it into my laptop, create a 'music files' folder and copy the mp3 music in there. Worked perfectly, the music playing immediately found the files and they play well.

Overall I found some similarities with the old E51 which was a Symbian phone. These days even the basic Series 40 have better features than Symbian of that era. (Except the multi-tasking, which in practise you don't use very often other than to play music, which this Asha 309 also does. And this Asha 309 of course has a better/larger touch screen, and is faster/smoother overall.
