Nokia Active Wireless Earphones launch in China for $46

Vlad, 11 January 2018

Nokia has outed a new mobile accessory today. We're talking about the Bluetooth Active Wireless Earphones, bearing the model number BH-501. These confusingly share their model number with the BH-501 Bluetooth behind-the-neck headset from 2007. On one hand, that just goes to show how long the Finnish brand has been in this business. On the other hand, we assume another model number could have been used this time around.

Anyway, with the new Active Wireless Earphones Nokia probably wants to capitalize on the fact that more and more high-end smartphones seem to be mysteriously losing their 3.5mm audio jacks. The BH-501 features an aluminum body with a brushed metal design and a 50cm string that connects the two buds. You can have it in any color as long as it's black. It weighs 15g, and supports volume adjustment as well as call answering and rejection from the in-line remote.

The earbuds are IP55 rated for water and dust resistance, meaning they're dust protected and can withstand water being projected by a nozzle from any direction. In plain words, going out with them in the rain should pose no problem. The Nokia Active Wireless Earphones are going to be priced at CNY 299 in China, which right now translates into $46. It's unclear when or if the accessory will make it to other markets.
