To any one who is planning to buy this great device, I advise that you should not fear about the negative comments that you may see here, but rather try out the device for yourself. Having had one for the last 1 week am well pleased with it, though the first few days it had really disappointed me by switching itself off, only because I had no experience of plugging in the earphones. One cannot fail to realise the power of this machine, especially the 600mhz is working great. The screen is large enough to allow me read my class notes via adobe reader and quick office. There is a lot I can say, but we should never forget there is no device that can perform to our complete satisfaction, all in all Nokia E52 is a great phone and I don't regret having invested in it as a medical student.

Cementha, 24 Aug 2010u said to choose color but they aren't giving me the grey c... moreCementha,

Go online to ebay and buy a grey Nokia E52. The cost is $275 Australian to purchase the phone without a contract. It arrives in 4 days from Hong Kong seller. Postage is included.

I have purchased 2 x Nokia E52's this way and have had no problems, (until I dropped from my balcony and smashed the phone!). You can choose grey, black, golden or white - all the same price, all in sealed original packaging. One was made in china, the latest one made in Korea. Absolutely no problems with how the phone works - and they are identical.

        Good luck,
        Billy.

im using e52 for past 2 mnths.. Its internet speed is exceptional... Its got speed more than e71 & even n97....!!! But i am dissappointed with its speaker. Its not giving much pleasure during playback... but as a browsing phone, e52 is surely reliable. Its video streaming speed is wonderful. Downloading is also very very fast. Battery backup is also a plus point, im getting minimum 1week of backup even im using internet daily .. Light weight and super sleek design makes this phone more interesting..

The E52 is a piece of junk.

I have owned Nokias since 1995 upgrading about once a year (probably 15 phones over the years).

                    SETTING UP EMAIL ACCOUNTS

E52 Email accounts are v difficult to set up - requiring extensive googling to force a workaround compared to E51.

REPLYING TO EMAILS NOT POSSIBLE OUTSIDE DATA COVERAGE AREAS

The E51 mail client allowed me to download Emails directly from my POP server, and also choose how much of the email to download by truncating large mails - great if you are in limited bandwidth / connectivity areas (I frequently spend time in the bush with little or no data coverage, and like to be able to download batches of Emails when I briefly get into coverage areas, and then respond to emails off-line or out of data coverage areas. I have been using the Think Outside bluetooth keyboard synced to the E51 and previously the N series to compose sometimes lengthy Email responses for work).

With the E52, Nokia appears to be trying to copy the Blackberry email server service - but failing miserably. WITH E52 I AM NOT ABLE TO REPLY TO AN EMAIL BEFORE THE PHONE HAS DOWNLOADED THE WHOLE MESSAGE. IE I AM NOT ABLE TO REPLY TO A LARGE EMAIL UNLESS I AM IN A DATA COVERAGE AREA. With v limited data speeds and several hundred emails a day several of which are over 1 meg, this situation renders the E52 completely unusable for Emails (whereas the E51 handled this situation perfectly - I could respond to all Emails offline, place reply emails in the outbox and the E51 would send all unsent mails as soon as I got back into coverage.

                    E52 WEB BROWSER SUCKS

E52 web browser zoom function and bookmarking is a giant leap backwards compared to E51.

                    CALENDAR EXCHANGE
I couldnt get calendar exchange to work on E52 and gave up after about 10 hours of trying (whereas on my Blackberry 9700 and Iphone, these worked immediately , seamlessly.

                    NOKIA MAPS V OVER RATED
Nokia Maps require a data connection to work (which completely defeats the objective of having the maps downloaded onto yr phone)
Nokia Maps are imcomplete compared to google maps.
Google maps is a far better mapping solution on yr Nokia.

                    OVI STORE SUCKS
compared to Apple apps, or Blackberry apps.

                    CONCLUSION
After 15 years of loyalty, Nokia has broken my trust in their brand, and I have moved to Blackberry Bold 9700 (4 months into my E52 contract - at a huge financial penalty), and I am delighted with the Blackberry in all regards. I also use the Iphone for aviation and other apps and as a reader (kindle) and have also been v happy with the Iphone, but prefer the Blackberry as my primary business phone. Blackberry Apps are not as good as Iphone, but Blackberry does the basics (Phone, Emails, contacts, calendar exchange, battery life) extremely well, and will do everything my E51 did (above) - only much easier and better.

My only gripe with the blackberry is that I cant connect my Bluetooth keyboard - but the advantages outweigh this problem.

PS I tried upgrading E52 software - but this did not resolve aforementioned problems

This is Nokia at its best!!! Plain and simple.
I've played with lots of mobile devices but this one is by far the best I've come around.
It's a perfectly balanced mobile phone in terms of size and weight!!! It's wide but it's not to wide to say it doesn't fit in your hand while being very light at the same time, the width and the weight making it a very balanced mobile phone. Sometimes I was actually forgetting that I had in my hand. The screen is of a good size for this form factor, and the keyboard it is a delight to type on. Basically when it comes to the physical dimensions this phone is having everything E51 missed. I really mean I can't get enough of that keypad! The keys are just PERFECT, wide without being to big or chunky, so you can type very efficiently on it without pressing the wrong buttons(unlike the C5's ones that are big but in the wrong way). The size and shape of the keys together with the T9 dictionary can easily match the efficiency of a qwerty keypad. Actually I don't see the sense on having a qwerty if you know how to handle this device. It is definitely an improvement over the already very good keypad that E51 had.
It has a very good processor, having a more powerful one would have made to much of an impact over the battery life. Excellent battery 1500Mah Li Po.
Drawbacks? Or why I wouldn't purchase this cell phone? I travel a lot and because of this I need HSDPA on most of the frequencies out there.
NOKIA just issue a second edition of this mobile phone with HSDPA on 850/900/1800/1900/2100, almost the same frequencies you have on the N8 and you've got yourself the perfect candy bar phone!!!
