Easy the best phone ive had, both for private and business use.
Have a HTC Diamond 2 as complement for webbrowsing and writing mails, but for voicecalls/videocalls and texting, E52 rules.

NokiaLuvrFromJakarta, 19 Sep 2009@trf vertu is not nokia, but owned by nokia. vertu is U... moreTo NOKIA-LUVR-FROM-JAKARTA:

Not because you DON'T see VERTU on Nokia's site means that VERTU isn't a Nokia. Nokia just reserves a special site for VERTU phones.

Look at LEXUS, Toyota makes LEXUS and you won't find LEXUS on Toyota's site. There's a special site reserved for LEXUS.

      To EVERYONE:

For the record people, I'm NOT saying I won't buy any chinese made products because China does make good original products. Example, I have a chinese made 8GB Transcend Class 6 Micro-SD card in my E51 and it works perfectly. It's also the fastest memory card I have come across. Previously I had another Class 6 memory card in my phone and it was noticeable slower than this Transcend.

My Transcend is so fast you forget a memory card is in the phone. The phone starts up extremely fast too and I have used up 1/2 the capacity of the card. It is said that when you have quite a bit of data on a memory card it slows the phone down...NOT my Transcend though. I suspect if I buck it to the brim using up all the capacity it will still be just as fast.

I also have other chinese made products and they are ok. My only problem is buying chinese made phones based on experiences.

I have posted this before, but I want to post again. For the benefit of others…

I have been a Nokia user for the past 10+ years, ever since M1 started some 10+ years ago. My very 1st hp was the "banana" phone, think it was Nokia 3810 or something like that. And ever since, I have had up to 20 or more models of Nokia hp already. 6510, 8250, 6280, 6288 (just to name a few) and many many more models I lost count and forgot the model number. So far, I have been very satisfied with your product.

But in recent one year or so, my purchases of Nokia phones have been disappointing.
        1) 6210 Navigator: No good, the phone went for software upgrade once (at least)
        2) E71: Some problem with the ear-piece parts. Replacement part not available (wait for one/two months; gotta wait. Complained and M1 (not Nokia) replaced one for me (Nokia no longer has 7days replacement policy).
        3) E75: Software problem again, went software upgrade again.
        4) E51 (Used): Ok, but unable to read memory card.
        5) WORST OF ALL: E52, the phone just died on me. Unable to power on. Phone is still at Nokia Care Centre after one whole week!!!
The above models are bought in the time span of recent one year.

I was able to back up all my data in previous incidents (1-4), but in the most recent purchase of E52 (No power), it did not give me any symptoms of breakdown and I lost all my data!! Calendars entry, notes, messages etc…

Yes, this complaint is from just one customer, but I will definitely not recommend Nokia to my friends and relatives anymore. At the same time, I am sorry to say that Nokia has just lost a loyal faithful 10yo customer. And I will definitely not consider Nokia anymore in my next hp purchase. Perhaps, Sony E or HTC or even Samsung might be better choice.

From an utterly disappointing EX-Nokia faithful customer...

Hello everybody! I use to like Nokia and especially the nokia E series phones this is why I got E50, E51 and a week ago I went shopping for the E52. Its got a stunning battery life and it looks nice as well. However, the first batch of E52s that arrived at the stores were really bad concerning with the software. It kept crashing all the time, I could not even finish or start a phone call.It kept disconnecting from my nokia Bluetooth headset and it always kept restarting. I could not connect it via bluetooth to my laptop so as to retrieve the phone book and in general it made my life horrible!!! I got it back to the store, they agreed to give me a new one since that one was obviously a faulty one! Then when I got home and opened the new box the On/Off button was missing (from the top side of the phone) and the battery cover was badly scratched! I called the immediately and I went back to the store again. They confirmed that the phone was damaged from the beginning and they tried to find me a new E52 or I had to get another model. Since the batch of E52s was small there was no other phone in the store and since I did not want any other phone but the E52 the gave me a full refund for the price of the phone!
So, I wonder, what is going on with Nokia quality control? Why is this keep happening to these guys in the north? I have to admit that I am fed up with nokia and that I am not going to buy any other again. I wish that this happened only to me, but I read in other forums that they had the same problems with me! NOKIA, Please raise your quality and reliability standards, or you will lose in the market by others (htc, samsung and lg make stunning phones nowadays)
              Regards,

              A disappointed ex-nokia user!

                  DO NOT GET THIS PHONE!

I had mine for about 2 weeks before I had to return it (UK, made in Finland).

Noise cancellation feature means when you are outside and there are cars going past etc, your own voice gets cut off and is very hard for people to here.
GPS at first was accurate, later VERY inaccurate, even with aGPS turned off.
The build quality is very poor - there is light bleeding everywhere, especially under the screen, and the buttons do not all feel the same, as if they are about to fall out!
The Nokia logo on the back feels like it is about to come off.

Very disappointed, as the phone is unbelievably light, thin, has EXCELLENT battery life, and very good and fast OS.

Shame the other things let it down big time..

vertu is not nokia, but owned by nokia.
vertu is UK based not finland.

u can check at nokia.com and they dont have vertu list on there.

they have diffrent segment and basically totally diffrent design concept, diffrent marketing strategy.
i dont see any vertu adopt nokias style at all, even compare with nokias 8*** class.

I agree with trf. Based on general records, China made goods are generally less reliable and quality wise, questionable. It also doesn't mean that everything China-made is defective. Don't get me wrong, pls, nothing personal. I'm an Asian Chinese, though not fr China.

Once again, I agree. Percentage error becomes larger when the demand increases.

Anyway, I guess we're getting farther and farther. And I think it's about time to end these talks regarding quality of manufacture since we've got valid points presented already. It's up for people to choose based on EXPERIENCES and PERCEIVED QUALITY, like OJ having trust on European makes and we can't blame him because he has enough experience to prove his point. Bottomline is, it depends on people's preferences.

RBa, 19 Sep 2009I agree, Apple controls only a small fraction of the market... moreMass production accounts for defects my friend.

the more things you produce, the more busted ones will go out.

if you produce 100 phones and 1% is broken, that's 1 phone.

if 1000, 10. if 100000, 100. so on and so forth.

That's just how things are mass produced.

Quality control drops because of demand sometimes.

the fewer products you produce the lower the chances of producing broken ones.

that's just how things work in assembly production.

                              ----

But yes, based on how large a market share Nokia controls, it still produces excellent quality.

the 8800 Gold Arte is not the most expensive Nokia Phone.

                                the Vertus are.

                                they cost $300,000.

                                cheapest ones are $7000.

anything below that are rip offs.

you might get a good deal for the lowest class for $5000... maybe.

but at that price for a luxury phone I wouldn't trust it much if it doesn't come from Europe.

I'm comparing Apple and Nokia because I base it on the fact that both companies have factories in China. That's my sole reason for comparing the two and not based on market share. And besides, Nokia has a lot of factories (and I bet, even employees too) so mass production of its phones shouldn't compromise quality.

I've no problem with korean brands or asian brands for that matter.

my last E52 that died was korean. this one is still korean.

                                    I'm just stating the facts.

I'm not being biased with any manufacturing location.

try it out yourself and see how long china made products last.

we deal with steel cables for shipment.

china steel lasts for a couple of months, Japanese steel lasts 3 years.

we only get china one's if jap steel is unavailable, it's pretty much band aid to your wound until you get proper treatment.

As you can see, and as we have decades of experience dealing with shipment or servicing electronic products, China still produces inferior products.

once again, nothing against Asian products, just basing an observation off from experience.

Like I've always stated here, my posts are just to help other purchasers of E52 to base it off from details and not just assumptions.

That's why I'm giving as much info, real life as well as theoretical tests so they can make intelligent purchases.

If you want to buy china made phones by all means buy one. It's your money. I'm just trying to help out.

i respect every opinion here, but one thing i want to say is, nowadays asian handset-maker technology are equal to european or american handset-made. Look at the biggest name in handset player... Samsung, HTC, SE (half asian), LG... etc.
They produce mainly in asian (mostly china), using asian-made chips (maybe just like nokia china-made), using asian labor (just like nokia china-made) and they show the world how great their handset is. (HTC is the best example).

and FYI, E52 are manufactured in Korea not China. So its just not fair to blame China made nokia for ur problems in E52. But still i believe Korean made Nokias or China made Nokias produced with Nokia QC, then it would be the same as european/american Nokia.
Look at the most expensive nokias, 8800 gold-arte, it is korean made.

                                      http://www.gsmarena.com/showpic2.php3?sImg=reviewsimg/nokia-8800-gold-arte/gal/gsmarena_026.jpg

I try to be as objective as possible, dont mean to over-proud as asian, but its just the fact. I still choose NOKIA (european) over asian brand handset. Frankly speaking, i want to change to HTC, they produce superb phone, but too bad their product always come with average camera and no symbian. So i still keep nokia.

                                      Have a great day.

luv E52 btw, and wait till they have more reliable OS.
