This is a fairly good phone. Slider feels solid. Battery is not as strong as Sony Ericcson, but it made it up with symbian OS. WiFi feature can use some improvement.

I had always been a NOKIA fan but I had three defective E65s in three months. (Screen - slide -screen) I would have changed after number 1 clapped out but my provider Optus has a three dud rule.
BE WARNED this is a lemon

            hey guys,

ive just finished using my old nokia 6111 and lets face it, it wasnt the best phone around. However i was really happy with it as i never encountered any problems with it.

However i am currently look for a new phone. I have been deciding between the nokia 6300 and the nokia E65. there appears to be not much of difference between the two phones, apart from the battery life and the price. The 6300 is half the price however the battery life appears quite poor.

im not too worried about the battery life as my 6111 supposedly had poor battery life but it was fine for what i do. However i have a tendancy to send alot of text msgs. So if someone that has a greater knowledge about these two phones could email me, or even us reply to his it would be greatly appreiated.

            Thanks.

                  Maldita,

I do agree with you. I am a student and I use the phone a lot. The phone's software is a lot of help. I get to save my essays in it and send through the internet. So when I am on a bus, I finish my homework before I even get home. It was my mom's gift when I got in to college and I major in business. The phone is like a mini PC.

Nokia E65 is a business phone. That means it is phone made for smart people. It is actually very user-friendly for its features. For those who appreciates the phone and its use, hurray to y'all. That goes to say you guys are intelligent people. Those who can't. I think its you who needs a knowledge update or upgrade and defenitely not the phone.

I just want to know that if the front, that little circle there is a camera. The salesman my friend and I approach said that although it is a 3G phone, its has only one camera which is the obvious one at the back.

The salesman also told us that the media player is very soft, is it true?

I am enquiring about this, if there's a camera at the front and the media player volume is because if there is nothing wrong with the camera my friend and I will most likely be getting this nokia, E65.

I've just "upgraded" to this from an O2 XDA mini S. I use internet, e-mail, text, MMS, calendar, contacts as well as sending and receiving calls as this is my business line. I'm expecting a lot from the E65 and have gone with this model on advice from several sources - not just from O2.

The calendar function is good (espec. now I've figured out how to have it on the screen instead of always having to load it!) however, I would like to be able to add notes about meetings within the appointment.

I've only had the screen go blank/reset 3 times - 1st time (first night I had the phone!) I was almost out of battery so that's not surprising but the other times I had plenty of battery - not sure if it just didn't like the area I was driving through as I lost signal for a few seconds.

I haven't yet been able to sort the MMS settings so that I don't have to keep going to a website with a PIN to receive my messages and the e-mail hasn't set itself (as I was told it would) so I'm having to call O2 customer services!

My current bluetooth headset - which has been problem free for a number of years - isn't recognised by the E65 and I'm hoping this is perhaps because it's an "older" model of O2 Blue but, having been told it would be compatible, I'm disappointed that I've had to resort to yelling at my windscreen when I receive an in-car call!

Having said all of that, the E65 is very light, compact and easy to use - as I remember Nokia.

I'm happy to give this E65 a fair trial and a reasonably positive review.

                              About the available UPDATE:

It's been about 10 days since I did my update and I have to say the phone's response has improved and the battery life seems to long a bit longer... maybe the update managed to save up more energy. As for the auto-restart, and going blank problem, I only had it once (in 4 month) before I updated it, and so far, so good. Again, my unit wasn't really faulty, but if you phone switches off or goes blank you may want to consider going for the update, but it's up to you guys, there's always the risk that someting might go wrong with the flash.

                              Cheers,

                              Vicky

                                To Dr.Ray

I'm sorry I didn't check right after the update how much free memory I ended up with, and I have uploaded the back up I had previously done so the information I'm giving you is not really what u wanted but anyhow I'll tell you, right now I have 35mb used and 26 mb free.

I do have 2 third party applications installed and a couple of rather heavy themes, pics and extra ringtones. The rest is on my micro sd.

                                Cheers,

                                Vicky

Piece of Crap! (Une Merde!) stay away! super slow, dumb-phone. my first phone back in 1997 was a nokia which i loved, it was way better than this one. the user-interface is terrible; nothing is intuitive, almost every useful function requires several key presses. the performance is terrible; i often have to wait several seconds for it to display a simple texto! on several occasions, it did not let me recharge the battery until i turned off the phone, causing me to miss calls. why couldn't nokia just stay with what worked in the past? here nokia seems to imitate other phones (like samsung) and has become a lot less user-friendly. i am really very disappointed in this phone. i want to trade it for an old-school monochrome nokia. and who cares about accessing the web by phone? unless you have an iphone, the mobile-web is too annoying to navigate and too slow. the only good thing i can say about this phone is that the physical design is pretty (though the buttons are too small), everything else gets a failing grade. i've had 8 phones over the last ten years, the nokia E65 is the biggest deception and the worst overall.

I have been with SonyEricsson for about six years now, then heard about this phone and thought that it would be a nice change. The thing is that Nokia is the top cellular brand and one can not go wrong? The cell itself is a nice design and it is user friendly. But I am actually disappointed, because the phone freezes and restarts itself when you open/close the slider and if that is not enough one must always be near a charger, because the battery life is shorter than my electric toothbrush. How can you use a phone if it is more off than on? I would not buy a Nokia again and definetely return to SonyEricsson in the future.
