don't worry, it is the feature inbuilt known as proximity sensor. if you close by hand, screen will go off and if you take it out, screen will come again.

it has gps support as well as glonass but why don't the maps work? when I open here maps, it just closed down without even showing anything. I downloaded google maps but they don't work either. please help dear respected users

2.Basically This procedure is for Lost phone
but you can try it for your Problem
open Windowsphone.com (on Computer or another phone)
>Login with your microsoft(hotmail,live,outlook.com) a/c you use in your Phone.
>go to Phone ICON > find my phone(this option Will work only ,if u have registered your Phone Number)
Then Choose> Lock+Ring
there will be Dialog box where you can type your Message to show on Mobile Screen.
and An Option will Be to SET PIN to unLock Phone.
you can Set PIN Number...and Your phone Will Lock..and A Face of Weeping child will appear on Screen.
Unlock your phone with your PIN(use PIN you`ve changed online)

Frist reset ur phone,then download new here map from store.but for use map u have require wi-fi connection to install map India or states wise

Think file manager will not come in 8.1 update,although app and games can be installed on sd card but no news of file manager ,hope it will be

Something new update
Windows Phone Central can exclusively reveal that are either coming to Windows Phone 8.1 or that are actively being worked on include micro SD card support for installing apps and games. This feature is especially important for low-cost devices, like the Lumia 520, where internal storage is limited to just 8 GB (and less than 5 GB actually available).
In terms of the notification center, we can reveal that they work even on the Lockscreen. The Lockscreen can still be swiped up like normal to unlock the phone, but in Windows Phone 8.1 you can also swipe down to go directly to the new Notification Center.
The default camera app is also being updated, with buttons and functions similar to the Windows 8.1 camera app, though these will be located on the left side of the viewfinder.
