Black Bird, 28 Dec 2009i'm a bit disappointed with my N86. I hate the shaky slider... moredude m using n86 firmware v20 ur right abt the image size being low. Bt dat always happens when there is less colors in picture! All my pictures vary 4om 2mb to evn 3.6 mb! Some o them even in vry low or no lit at all! About tha pictures detail m vry impressed bcuz wide angle lense means less details. Bt details hav certainly improved since the first virsion! U cant match full details o diz cam wid duz o innove8. Bcuz then again innove8 isnt wide angle. Abt da scratches on lense i havnt. Xperianced any o duz! I tnk u can avoid dem if u push in side ways rather than push it down and then side ways! Abt the slider being shaky yup it is a bit shaky! Bt it dsnt realy wobble or sumfin! N m nt muj worried abt it bcuz my xperiance wid nokia tells me dats it nt gona get worse! Iav been using diz cell 4 2 mnths...
Iav cn it improve! N wid diz rate it crtainly is gona bcum a masterpiece! It has awasome nit photographic abbilities. N it certainly chalanges a lot of o stand n shoot cams!

lugille, 27 Dec 2009is it true that the slide do scratch the keypad of the n86?... moreno, it will not scratch the keypad, it has a gap between the slide and the keypad.

I'm going to buy this phone, any users can give more comments? Is it really the camera lens will scratch after a few times use? And while sliding will shake?

Now comes the image quality. it lacks details. one can clearly say. image size gets stuck at 1.5 MB. when other 8MP shooters ranges till 2 MB. THE LESS THE IMAGE SIZE THE LESS IS THE IMAGE DEATIL. in terms of camera hardware it is miles ahead than other camera phones. but it has problem in image processing algorithm. pictures taken at night are not even 1 MB, even though it has 3rd gen daul led flash. now i'm not going to update my software to v20. after reading the posts. Hope nokia will release a better firmware update.

u will find huge fotos mostly are acceptable with high quality although some artifacts are found but sure its far better than the n73

but although its a buggy firmware ,, so bad indeed
but the picz aren't that bad
i am worried if ur cell is defect
u may check photos on www.flickr.com and see how nice it is even under v20

fashist, 27 Dec 2009who better in video recording? n86 or s8300n86 is having carl zeiss optics,should be far better than others.but the current fw v 20.115 spoils things.nokia too has accepted that it's a beta[test]version of software.let's hope a new stable&bug free firmware update makes this good hardware device a better imaging device to use!both imaging&video needs much desired to be done improvement wise,sure it can be better than the current sw v 20.115.still a good enough phone to have.slider is a bit wobbley,not much!!lens cover scratches da lens it self at either ends ihad my heart in my mouth when i saw da scratches after few uses.though not in da middle of the lens,so no harm 2 da image taken;hope it doesn't get scratch further!!!

sea-breeze, 27 Dec 2009those tiny scratches dont affect the image quality ! u say ... morethanx 4 yr reply.any idea when will be more improved sw update on the way by nokia?i meant,da pics are pale and has a purple shade/tint???just compare if u get a chance to!

imaging device, and pics taken by n73 are better than n86,y so?i am a user since 5 months now and not at all satisfied with pic taken with this much hyped 8mp lens.the phone overall is damn good,fast,good ui,but image taken doesn't impress at all;at times annoyes me when i compare it with my n73 pics.where is the brightness in images?duel led doesn't supply strong light i guess?is it because of the buggy ver20.115?i urge nokia to make it a proper imaging device.camera software needs a lot of basic improvement i guess.guys stop boasting da phone just becoz u own it!let's be honest.mind you i m [my phone]is running on sw v20.225

people say the firware is bugy yes it is my friend master reset his about 5 times and then formated the internal 8 gb now it runs fast with no hangs or laggs you all can try that and tell me if ya all get better performance

a new update is out now for N95,N95 8GB,N82 ... so am expecting major firmware update for the N86 in the next few days .... i wish :))))

Nokia_Tec, 26 Dec 2009well, i actually see that n86 is selling well in the market... morehi.. 2 weeks back i purchased this phone N86. Its a really great phone and i've not done any firmware update. Will it be better to update the software? Is there face detection on the latest firmware update?
