Hey Guys,
Im using Nokia N86 8MP (version 20.115) for more than 2 months now. I am a Nokia user and I have not used any other phones other than nokia for the past 6 years. & im a heavy user (Install different softwares I use PC suit, OVI remote wat ever is available)I read thru pages and pages of comments & reviews.. okay.. now this is what i have to say.. Hope Nokia is going thru the comments since GSM arena is a major site... NOKIA N86 8MP is not worth the money its sold for. I have personally advised some of my friends not to buy it now since it needs a serious upgrade in the next firm ware & Hardware.A lot was expected but There were a lot of disappointments on this Phone.
Advantages.
1. Camera is good in good lighting conditions & for portrait pics.
2. nokia Wave Secure is a good option. Works well.
3.Battery is okay
4.Browsing is fine.
1. Key pad gets scratched while sliding
2 Camera lense gets scratches due to sliding lense cover.
3. Images have a lot of noise in less lighting conditions
4.N-gage games are not worth. Nokia should allease provide one or 2 free full version games.
5.Pencil in missing (copy paste & marking galary files are not eazy any more)
5.If the music player is stopped & minimised(not exited) and after a call or if the slider is opened & closed it turns on automatically.
6. Male voice option is not available for voice commands.
7.For the fat size it is they could have increased the speaker sound more.
8. Theme DYI is not needed software on N86. instead a free antivirus software could have been a good deal.
9. OVI (PC Suit) is not User Friendly. Lot of junk asking you to sign in into 1000 different things and it was really pissing me off.
Overall A highFI Junk. Could have been more refined.

i kept all my media files, applications in da mass memory bt da problem is dat my phone memory shows me dat i have only 24mb free space! dont knw hw i can recover it.Would anyone help me solve this will b ever grateful:)

Nokia_Tec, 18 Dec 2009N82 is too old to be compared to N86! N82 hangs like hell, ... morethis is true the nokia n86 was discontinued because well is wasnt selling to anyone, I dont blame them it is really ungle phone....

some people have men... moreu should go deep in the new firmware to discover the numerous bugs found i counted 8 till now !
if u wanna some let me tel u
1)the night pics are soft
2)the night pics are so noisy due to high dynamic range and higher exposure parameters
3)the new focus ... focus on the centrrre and left of the foto is hazzy
4)the realplayer doesn;t fast forword or rewind unless with the media button
5)themes effect hangs form landscape tp portaeait
6)no dtmf sounds
7)gps frequently fails to lock unless in super clear ares !
8)when closing the fone the front camera activates
9)......... u want more am here to tell ya !

david, 18 Dec 2009i wnt to ask u all how to update to firmware..can teach me?... more*#0000# then options then check for updates, u have to be connected to wireless connection for download.

i gt my desied N86 yesterday. this phone simply rox. i av upgraded da Firmware today.Itz speedy n superb nw with its performance specially with the face detection tec. Camera n sound quality s really impressive. what more can i get after the update of firmware would any suggest me.. :)

FIRMWARE VERSION 20.115 for n86 8MP
some people have mentioned that this new firmware its a crap.. well i only have to say that this release improved my phone.. i believe that some versions differ from country's, cuz i upgrade mine from portugal and my phone don't crash or restart, and don't decreased my photo quality like some people mentioned.
Improves (original version to v20.115):
-Face detection feature (photo pictures)
-the original version, when phone restarts, dont illuminate the keys (very bad when u need to put ur cardkey or your security key at night), this version correct it.
-ovi theme added
-music player screensaver added
i think that's all..
i recommend to upgrade the firmware version to all portuguese people, about other contrys, i dont know the versions, if good or bad, you have to try it.

i read many people say that nokia has same designs.....then what about samsung..same boring design(samsung jet,omnia2,lindy,s5560,7070diva,corby,pixon12,s5630c,B5722,omnialite,samsung star tv)...what do you say about this...

Edward, 17 Dec 2009Dear Josh. I didnt say n86 is no better than n82. Infact n8... moreN82 is too old to be compared to N86! N82 hangs like hell, i had n82 n couple of apps and i can tell i couldnt bare it anymore.N86 is ages faster and it has better hardware features, 3d chip was for old phones cuz they are slow at software rendered apps.The piece of art: 8mp and the best part goes for it`s video digital zoom, these is the best nokia phone ever made.
Sorry to say this but some n82 owners are a bit stubborn, cummon guys were almost in 2010, and the phone has been discontinued, u need to change ur phones! I am pretty sure that almost all of the judjment on new phones are prejudgments, a lot have been insulting nokia for not making another slow brick phone, have u thought how many professional designers and technicians are working at Nokia ?
My grandmother says N82 is slow for her!
