Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970ok so Sony Ericsson Idou has a 12MP which will not nesserly be better quality than an 5 or 8MP but still it could but the fact is 12MP mans bigger photo and thats it

ah and if you go to sony.com you will see all sony cameras using carl zeiss lens yet there mobiles w/o it????? why?

as carl_zeiss said N86 has new technology new lens i won't say its the best till its released

lets compare the other things that nokia has in n97
- Digital compass
- Nokia Maps 2.0 Touch (google maps requirs internet connection + where i live it doesn't have the map lol)
nokia maps free and if you want you can get on nokia
- Flash Lite 3
- Document viewer
- TV out
- 3.5 mm audio output jack
- FM transmitter
- Full QWERTY keyboard
- 32 GB internal memory (until SE reveals the memory its an advantage)
- Carl Zeiss optics
- Ovi
- quad band network

Nokia takes too long to release an 8mp camera phone because they want to make it the closest to the real digicams. Look at Nokia N86 8MP. It's got a new Carl Zeiss lens (different from previous Nseries), with f4.8 aperture, 28mm viewing angle. A new 3rd generation dual led flash with much brighter illumination as Nokia described of it is added to N86. Even the Innov8 doesn't have that camera specs. Let's not judge it too early. Let's wait for the proper review to be published. The design based on these computer pix is so ugly. But who knows, the live and actual N86 may look way better. This phone again is the first Nseries made with scratch resistant hardened glass with metallic accent. Nokia doesn't rush things. N86 arrives at the perfect time. At 375 euros starting price, this phone is a great deal. 12mp is too soon.

@celladik, you're pinoy right? Are you also a pwapper?

I don't know why, but I have got to say I think I am starting to like this phone more. The keypad might look all old school but thinking about it, is that really bad? It will be a doddle to text on :). The buttons on the other side when its slid down in multimedia mode look so bad its almost good! I am just dissapointed with the 8gb storage, really should have been 16gb like n96. Yes I know memory card is availible but will the computer see that like it sees the hard drive space?
And where on earth is the menu button?? Surely they haven't gone back to pressing the main select button to use as the munu button.
Got to say though, that camera sounds impressive with the mechanical shutter and all, and the adjustable apature. Just hope the flash is up for it as Nokia say its the next generation. Before I do anything with upgrading I am going to wait until this AND the Nokia N97 has been fully reviewed.

carl zeiss, 17 Feb 2009@celladik candybar phones are boring. Haven't you noticed?... moreI kn0w that, and im n0t after f0r a flagship ph0ne, all i want is an upgrade of my old n82, so iwant it to have 8mp with xen0n, 2.6 inch like th0se with samsung i7110 wifi hsdpa hsupa new OS AND all the features of n82 plus adds on, i prefer a candy bar ph0ne over flip slide or touch ph0ne, you cant blame me f0r that.

nearly 30000 hits in less than 24 hours.... shows there is massive interest in nokia. A lot seem to be SE and LG fan boys trying to knock the best.

Have tried several brands but the operating systems are terrible compared with nokia.

The N85 is high on my list for my next phone.

Candy bar type phones are good in quality becuase of lack of unmovable or mechanical part(s).

All slide phone unit regardless who is the manufacturer is not good in quality because as time goes by in using those slide unit, flex wire withnin it tends to loss connection because of cut thin wire.

ow gosh.. come on nokia! I'am ur biggest fan, but SE will kick you with SE Idou!

N86? 8MP? No xenon flash? just QVGA screen?

why don't you just renovate 5800xm into high resolution camera such as 8/12 MP with xenon flash?

                            I think N82 more better than N86!

candybar phones are boring. Haven't you noticed? Upper midrange to flagship devices now are all in slide form factor, while middle entry phones like 4-digit models are mostly in candybar.

Additional info about Nokia N86 8MP which Gsmarena did not include is that N86 is the first Nseries phone that is made with scratch resistant hardened glass with metal materials.
