This is the best phone I've ever had except for 1 thing, the handset volume during calls is quite soft. Is anyone else having this problem? Or should I go and get it checked out? My Nokia E60 is way louder during calls.

Im posting this message based on my experience. List of phone i owned and tried as far as music quality is concern (headset)
N81 - loudest,deep bass,clear sound
N96 - loud,deep bass,noise is there (v11)
N82/N95versions - average vol, average bass, noise is there (v31)
N79 - average vol, average bass, noise is worse than n82
N86 - average vol, deep bass but n0t as n81, crystal clear sound noise reduction is very gud.same as n97.
N78 - average vol, average bass, distortion is terrible.
At the m0ment i own n81 8gb and n86, the thing i like bout the sound of n86 is its crystal clear audio reproduction, bass and treble are balanced. BuT for overall n81 is still better than n86.

So if you're more often listening through headset/headphone, N86 is a brilliant choice. Forget that this handset is a cameraphone. It's audio quality is decent, leaving N95 behind. Put a 3.5mm sennheiser or plantronic headphone, than hear it, feel it. explosive bass, crystal clear sound, crisp treble is all there. Its close to i-Phone in term of audio quality i think. So once again, its a brilliant choice to choose this handset to listening music. Plus, it got 8GB harddisk onboard and support 16GB microsd, totalling 24GB of storage. Gotta love that :)

i think its obvious that compared to phone like N95, it'll lose on loudness mainly. But N86 still boast that stereo sound. Trebele and voice is still crisp, but the lower bass note is too bad. N95 pack more puch in producing ample bass sound.
But thats the speaker saying. Now put your 3.5mm headset in, and enjoy.. the N86-8MP definetely beat N95 by a large margin. Trust me, im being honest and tried both phone. Either its speaker and its overall/headset quality. Conclusion : N86-8MP got a better audio quality reproduction but it speakers cannot catch up with such quality. Lacking lower note and bass. While N95 got lower audio quality reproduction but got a decent speakers that loud and crisp, bringing that lower audio quality to the maximum limit at a mobile phone's speaker

In noisy place realy it has lower sound.bt in sennhiezer head phones(im using it) realy amazing better than sony walkman i mean it.n in noisy place head phones wid n86 realy good bcz it hs noise cancellation

my nokia n86 is excilent and elegant design, good feature spec very high. but sometimes when i make a call it suddenly block out even a battery is newly or fully charge.the audio is scratcy i means poor quality even i used his original headset.

well, to be honest, n86's speaker isn't so good. it's loud but it isn't as crisp and clear as you would hope it'd be

I have a question. How is the music quality of the n86? Is it comparable to that of n96, n85, or n97 or n79?
It hasn't been mentioned on most reviews since they always focus on the camera?

Reduce the brightness of screen, trun off themes effect, turn off auto-rotate, close unnessary apps, turn off bluetooth n wifi when not in use. . .never overcharge ur battery. .or maybe u sud get new battery.
Nokia supplied e63 n e71 with 1500 Amh battery but always supplied N-series with 1200 Amh, except n97. Even though Nseries has more features tham Eseries. I really wished N86 had 1500
Amh battery.
Well bro, if u want to enjoy ur N86 continuously i suggest u buy Extra battery for N86. Carry that extra battery wen u r outside. . .

pierre, 29 Mar 2010I am looking for a good camera phone, my main target is the... moreN86's performance is better than Aino. N86's camera is far better than Aino. N86 has variable aperture, which produces bright image even in low light conditions. Plus with its 3rd Generation LED flash, its enough for night photos. In daytime, N86's camera is great, superb clear image. But if u need allround superb image even in night, i suggest u choose sony ericsson C905, which has xenon flash. But remember C905 is great only in camera, and the remaining features can't compete with N86. N86 is all-rounder and a great phone. But if u are interested only in camera than go for C905. Omnia HD is no use, its flash not enough for good night photos, plus it has no camera lens. If u need great camera in daylight n good in night light, along with great all round features than go 4 N86.

I am looking for a good camera phone, my main target is the Omnia HD unfortunate, it stop selling in my country. So i have to move my choice and i am looking into N86 or Sony Aino. I like the wide angel lens of the N86 but i like the large screen of the Aino. Which phone performe faster speed? Thanks for the comment.
