Anonymous, 28 Feb 2010can anyone tell me what's the difference betwee optical zoo... moreOptical zoom is the camera lens zooming in on the real thing, and digital zoom is just the phone zooming in on whats being seen on the screen, or in other words just enlarging the screen.
So optical zoom realy is the only way something is truely zoomed in on.

Th3_uN1Qu3, 25 Jan 2010First of all, it's BIG. It requires a large pocket. :) Seco... moreI've fixed my joystick today with some surgery on the flex cable. My camera now has full functionality available. :)

First of all, it's BIG. It requires a large pocket. :) Second, it's nowhere as tough as its size may suggest.
Mine is held together by superglue, literally. I had to glue on most sidepanels as they would fall off one by one. Due to the phone's bulk the fragile battery lid has fractured its clips so that's gotten glued on as well. The camera joystick gives no response when it's pressed, so i cannot use macro mode or edit camera settings (it could have a backup key assigned to those functions, but no it doesn't). Also the keypad is all scratched up at the top due to the screen frame rubbing on it when it's closed. Nokia never figured out how to make a proper clamshell (hint: MORE RUBBER SUPPORTS YOU IDIOTS). Samsung can do it, LG can do it, why can't you? With two extra pieces of rubber to support the bottom of the screen frame when the lid is closed, the keypad would never wear out. 6131 and others have the same problem.
Now, the good. It is fast. Much faster than the N73 i traded for it. It starts up fast, the interface is very responsive, camera mode initializes fast too. Games run great. The camera produces exceptionally good video. It looks like a camcorder for a reason.
Battery life is decent, 2-3 days. Signal reception is good. The earpiece is a bit on the quiet side, but the loudspeaker is loud and clear. Wifi reception is weak, it's one of those features you always want in a phone but when you get it you realize it's useless.
The design is quite awkward, with charger and pop-port on the side. It's very inconvenient if you want to use a handsfree with it.
But all in all, this is an interesting mix of a phone. I'd like to see it redesigned tougher and with better wifi.
