Nokia officially announces the Lumia 610 NFC

11 April, 2012

Well, that didn't take long. Just hours after we wrote about the leaked video revealing the new Lumia 610 NFC, Nokia went ahead and made the phone official.

Technically the world's first Windows Phone with NFC hardware, the Lumia 610 NFC is otherwise identical to the standard Lumia 610. This means it has the same 3.7-inch WVGA LCD, 5 megapixel camera with 720p video, 800MHz processor, 256MB of RAM and 8GB internal memory.

Just like with the processor and RAM, Nokia had to make special changes to Windows Phone 7.5 Mango to incorporate the support for the NFC hardware, although this should become standard once handsets running Tango start releasing.

The phone is being sold in Europe on Orange's network with no details regarding the pricing or the availability in other markets.
