Nokia ORO is a C7 with fancy clothes, coming soon

04 May, 2011

For those of you who are already tired of their Vertus, we have some good news. Nokia ORO is coming soon and it is not your plain feature phone made from nice materials. Instead, it is the Symbian running Nokia C7 gone through a gold and leather treatment.

Update: And now it's official.

We are not going to bother you with the technical specs of the device - you can find them all in our thorough review of the Nokia C7. We will focus our attention on the materials which make this C7 cousin so special.

As its name properly suggests (oro means gold in Italian), the Nokia ORO has its frame and keys covered in 18K gold. The front three keys are also made of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The screen of the device is covered by Gorilla Glass. As for the back - it is wrapped in real Bridge of Weir leather of the finest quality (if you wonder what it is, look at some of today's supercars' interiors).

The alleged price of all this leather and gold goodness will be $1635 (44990 Rubles) according to the mobile phones retailer “Svyaznoy” (yes, you guessed right, it is in Russia) - much in line with the feature phones from Nokia's own 8800 series. Dare we say that this seems like a good deal for a phone of such stature? After all, the Nokia C7 is expected to get a Symbian Anna update so, along with its impressive new looks, its cousin ORO should also be a capable smartphone as well.

Unless nokia will change their symbian support, they will not convince me. It"s like driving a new BMW 7series, with a renault clio engine
