Nothing announces price increase for its Ear (1) TWS earphones
Contrary to many products well into their lifecycle Nothing Ear (1) are getting a 50% price hike later this month. Nothing CEO Carl Pei announced via a tweet earlier today that Ear (1) will retail for $149 from October 26. Pei also called the Ear (1) a “completely different product” compared to when it was launched and confirmed that there are nearly 600,000 units sold worldwide.
The price hike is justified by Pei with an increase in development efforts including hiring over 180 engineers to work for Nothing after the the Ear (1) launch. Rising inflation levels and the weakened pound sterling have also played a likely role in the price hike of the UK-based company’s first consumer product.
