I am intrigued by this phone. Can anyone speak to what kind of bloatware this phone may have, if any? Because 8 GB of RAM doesn't seem like much and I don't know if I understand / trust the virtual RAM "boost." I don't play games or watch movies on my phone, but I do play a lot of lossless, hi-res audio. Also, unless anybody can point me to a good vendor in the US, it seems like it is cheaper for me to buy one from a UK or EU vendor and have it shipped, even with express shipping it ends up being cheaper.

Not interested. I thought this phone would be a highly repairable device with replaceable modules but meh. 5 years of OS updates would have been the better choice if they are going after sustainability and repairability. Makes no sense.

I theorized that they're originally going for a modular device (like google planned several years earlier) yet execs blocked the idea since they saw that a 99% repairable/replaceable modular phone is not a good money making machine. A truly customer-first; profit later mindset is impossible for these companies; let alone right to repair.

They just add some catchy bling to their phone which won't take too much effort and then do drip-marketing and fake leaks to build hype. That's the entire business model. So keep your expectations in check.

And honestly speaking, the argument to compare it with a gaming set... No comment

In my country and I live in Poland, the lack of NFC disqualifies this phone.
Payment by phone is the basis for me because I hardly use cash.
I also don't like to wear any watches that allow payments so I leave the choice of this smartphone to others.

An excellent phone that lacks updates:
Two years of OS updates and another year of security updates!
Not much these days!
I've had a PS5 for 5 years and it's going strong!
A cell phone like this will still be strong in two years and I'm going to throw it away because it's already out of date?
On top of that, you can change covers and keep it looking new!

probably they are going to introduce a framework laptop-style device mod feature where you can swap modules but they decided to limit it to the back cover only and few dangling accessories
Would be nice if the camera modules are swappable, and battery is also user-replaceable.

Second, S24U is way more then 650 dollars.
Third, I miss days of 2019 when 300 dollars (so barely more then this) got you true flagship grade screen, highest performing midrange chip, and telephoto camera, as well as aluminium frame.

to those posters who want a spec-dump mobile that ticks all your requisite boxes, I'd just say prepare to stump up to $800-1000 for a flagship from a major brand name and, voila. your oxymoronic comments here wouldn't help anyone shopping on a budget.
