nubia Z50S Pro goes official with 35mm lens, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 chipset
The ZTE nubia Z50S Pro has arrived and there was a last minute addition of a third colorway. The first two go for a serious camera look with a lens-like camera bump and a grippy leatherette texture. The third option is inspired by ice instead and the camera island is adorned with an opalescent ring.
Whichever look you prefer, all three feature the camera prominently as it is the highlight of the phone. The star of show is the 35mm lens, a nubia trademark, it’s a 1G+6P lens with a wide f/1.59 aperture, OIS and a decently large 50MP 1/1.49” sensor.
In addition, the phone is equipped with a 50MP ultra wide camera with a 13mm lens (125° FoV, f/2.0) that doubles as a macro cam as it can focus at just 2.5cm/1in. If you want to take a photo from afar, there is an 80mm tele lens (OIS, f/2.4) with a 16MP sensor behind it.
ZTE shared early camera samples from the phone, here are a few shots (note: they have gone through some compression on Weibo).
Flipping around to the front of the device, the Z50S Pro features a large 6.78” AMOLED display with 1,260 x 2,800px resolution (452ppi, 20:9). This is a 10-bit panel with 100% coverage of DCI-P3 and it supports both DC dimming and 2,160Hz high frequency PWM dimming.
While it’s not as gaming focused as its Red Magic cousins, this nubia is quite adept at it too. The display runs at 120Hz and has 1,000Hz touch sampling (720Hz sampling when tracking multiple fingers).
The brain of the phone is the powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 chipset, the version with a 3.36GHz prime core and boosted GPU. This is kept cool by a massive 4,233mm² vapor chamber.
Speaking of power, the phone runs on a 5,100mAh battery and supports 80W fast charging. According to ZTE, with moderate use you can squeeze just over 37 hours out of the battery. In power saving mode, just 5% charge is enough for 6 hours of standby or a 30 minute call on WeChat.
The ZTE nubia Z50S Pro can be pre-ordered in China starting today, you can find it on ZTE Mall. Open sales start on July 27 (next Thursday).
There are multiple versions available, starting with a 12/256GB configuration for CNY 3,700 ($515/€460/₹42,250). The other configurations are 12GB/1TB and top out at 16GB/1TB.
Note that the white version is slightly more expensive, costing CNY 100 more than the equivalent black or khaki colorways.

Yeah, but GSMArena doesn't have a good review history with ZTE phones unfortunately.
