I had been following this Pda since it was first announced back in late 2006 and was totally blown by the spec.
In Everyday use it has plenty of grunt under the bonnet to perform any task you through at it.
Now i feel to correct some user critisms, yes battery consumption is high on this PDA with 3.7 inch VGA Screen also powering 2 processors so this is no surprise.
Putting it head to head with simular devices like XDA Exec or Dell Axim X51v then the Xda Flame fairs very well, but to overcome this situation buying a 2000mah battery totally sorts this problem out.
O2 designed this device as a true multimedia PDA PMP and is currently sitting at the top of the tree in this area.
This device has a Nvidia goforce graphics chip which in practice makes games work faster and Movie Playback is truely amazing as this device supports Mobile WMVHD which when played via headphones selecting SRS is truely cinematic at best and no other Pda ive used has come close to this..i have also overclocked device to 650mhz which is used for more demanding tasks.
At the end of the day PDAs are very versatile and many people complain about some features that this PDA doesnt have like HSDPA etc but i can do just about do anything on this device, and even wow people with programs ive written that truely push the boundaries of Mobile devices so its down to how technical you are ,as to how good your device is.
Other Functionality like Camera for a 2mpx is very very good indeed and this device does pretty much what all other devices do so for me a 100% thumbs up this device i would recommend Xda Flame for the more technical user as it does have tremendous potential in the right hands

The Xda Flame is currently selling in big numbers so the future is very bright.

has ne1 tried to use USB joypad.
seems less useful without keys for gaming. must have included some sort of keyboard... and does it have a camera lens cover?

I'm planning to buy one but am not sure if it has a virtual alpha-numeric keypad with predictive text capability. I am not particularly keen on entering text strictly through tapping a qwerty keyboard or through handwritting recognition only. thanks

looks like the Geforce 5500 video acceleration quite useless, the playback still choppy compare to 2700g video accelerator on Axim

I have been using O2-XDA since the first generation. I bought O2 XDA-Flame about 2 months ago, I encountered serious problem using this version, can anybody help me as to how to correct the problem?
a.It frequently hangs in the middle of a call or writting sms message.
b.Battery life is very short, only aboout half a day during a normal usage.
c.Have to frequently reset it to make it work, this is really so cumbersome.

I believe there is solution. I'm not an IT person, so your help is appreciated.

                        hey guys..
do you happen to encounter a software for Flame that would allow it to burn mp3 files using an external dvd writer?

                        thanks..

I've been using the O2 Flame since mar2007. It has some bugs. Although internal memory is only 3% used, it hangs on receiving calls & on restart internal memory icon is very slow to show up on screen). There is some lag in displaying change of menu too. Any 1 have similar experience?

By the way if you have Xda Flame buying a 2000mah battery of higher is a very good idea as this gives very good battery performance....many people have complained on this matter but this does resolve issue hope this helps.

The device is a power house, but it's ROM needs updating for several reasons:
                                  1. Blue tooth headset pairing gets lost when device is off.
2.Sometimes while video operation we require its LED lights on, which is not possible with present ROM.
3.Camera template /frame mode is desired.

                                    To Chen:

We should admit that the O2 XDA Flame is really big.. the engineers need the size to feet the 3.6 inch screen right guys? so there, the bulky-ness of the device is the result of the large screen. As for the pocket pc side, its really one wonder.

Imagine this, you have the O2 XDA Flame, a IRDa wireless keyboard, and a bluetooth mouse.. and what do you have? a very portable mobile pc.. and it can all fit in your pocket. (a very big one though.. hehehe)

Hope this clears the issues on its size friends.

Thanks Trimavis for your clarification. Well!......configuration wise the flame would be the best compared to atom life. However the flame is bit bulky to be considered as a pocket pc; also still the WM 6.0 ROM upgrade is not announced for the device.
