isnt this an o2'd up touch diamond?
yeah it must be. the one thing with mobiles you must all learn, always buy the generic devices, they run so much more smoothly

does anyone know does the ignito use the same interface as the htc diamond? might seema daft question but alot of the xda range (which are just copies of the HTC range) use the o2 interface which looses functionality e.g. touchflo on stellar is rubbish in comparison to the tytn II
can you use youtube on o2 as ignito as aposed to htc diamond?
thanks for any help

Anonymous, 22 Sep 2008What a pants fone. The interface is great, but this fone is... moreYou what? Not as good as the Orbit?
True the orbit is a nice fast phone, but this has a 528Mhz processor with 192 Mb RAM, plus 3d acceleration. Its much better.

Had the Ignito a few days now - It's Amazing.
For all those who aren't sure - this is the HTC touch diamond but has been re-branded by 02, the differences being the 02 branded software (yuk!) and the smooth back cover (instead of the chiselled diamond) which is much more masculine than the diamond effect which i find a bit girly!
First thing to do is head on over to xda-developers and flash an original HTC rom to the phone to debrand it and improve the radio. This gave me the original HTC interface and makes the battery last longer with improved radio/network interaction. The interface is also a lot more responsive.
I owned an imported jailbroken iphone for several months before the Uk 02 release and loved it but sold it due to it's bulky size but quickly started to miss it. After a few months of not having it, i've been eying up the Diamond but in the end went for the Ignito due to the smooth back cover and i actually find this even better than the iphone.
The screen quality has to be seen to be believed, its so crisp and colourful, the iphone's dislay was amazing but this destroy's it. I turned off the auto brightness setting as i found it kept the screen quite dull, even in the dark.
The sound quality through the built in speaker is good, it's not amazing but it is better than the iPhone's.
The size of this thing is amazing, it feels so good in the hand.
Battery life is OK, it lasts me pretty much all day, after listening to music for an hour, several text messages/emails, a few calls etc, also worth noting that the phone comes with an in car charger/screen protector and leather case.
After a few days usage, i love it and think it's the perfect device for me.

Why is this exactly the same as the HTC Touch Diamond? If I had a choice to choose between the Diamond and this, I'd choose the Diamond cause this is just a complete copy.

What a pants fone. The interface is great, but this fone is incredibly slow and the battery life is awful. Not my idea of an upgrade from the xda orbit. I've been told that the Samsung Tocco is much better on battery life and is quicker to react, so I might get one (though I don't like to follow the masses). I have used touchscreen fones since the P800 and found that, though this is pleasing to the eye, it really is a let down compared to all the touchscreen fones I've used. Such a shame. If those couple of problems were sorted out, I would consider purchasing this fone again.

Received the Xda Ignito this week and a bit like that girl that kissed another girl...I quite like it! Has got some really nice features on it and I find it very user friendly. It might take a bit of getting used to if you are not familiar with this type of phone but if you are looking for something that is really basic and easy to use then stick to a Nokia! It offers a lot more than making calls/sending texts.
Not sure what all the complaints are re the battery life, mine is fine and ive used it loads since i've got it just to suss it all out. All batteries are fairly poor on phones these days, just take the cable to work with you! The only thing I would say is touch screen keyboard/number pad are a bit fiddly but they do supply the stylus so you cant have it all! All in all I think this is a good handset, plus its not too heavy either. Gets the thumbs up from me.

i was waiting eagerly to get on .. well am not impressed at all.. a simple piece of gadget.. lacks to attract and the sound quality is weired.. no where near to a perfect multimedia setup. software combinations are quiet good , but some features are just killing the time .. i think windows mobile is to blaim for things like bluetooth connectivity. they are trying to dominate in the same way as they do in pc world.. however mobiles will be better off with simple operations.
although its a touch phone.. the os needs to be improved to be user friendly. over all in my opinion phone is a good peice of equipment, but poor sound quality and very much lacking in attracting.

To all these people that keeps asking why this looks like the htc diamond and why it has the same spec, it's because it is the htc diamond, it's just that o2 have re-packaged it. They do the same with ALL xda phones, I have the orbit 2 but when you open the battery cover it has a htc battery, this is because it is the htc touch cruise just in a different shell. HTC are partners with o2 NOT sister companies as they are 2 totaly seperate companies (they are both from different places to start with) htc just give there phones to o2 the same way nokia and s/e do but you dont hear anybody saying they are sister companys. O2 do make there own phones regardles of the previous posts (i.e o2 ice) its just that they arent realy that good.

Hey,
this phone is not for a heavy and demanding user, just a stylish and sexy thing which is nice to touch, also small and lightweigt to put it in a lady's bag. I've downloaded skype and good dictionary, like it and never complain. This is more than a phone anyway..
