xda II mini, has many ways to input text on it,first , like on any pocket pc, you can use a virtual qwerty key board, that apears in the screen, even in landscape mode, you can also use the text recognizer function(the transcriber and the block recognizer)you also have an exclusive program called the phone pad that simulates a normal phone keyboard with T9 text input, good for one hand operation. you can also get 3th party software , the full screen keyboard, or the PDAMedia KBD(my favorite) there is NOT a fisical keyboard .to get a rom upgrade you must go to your service provider, or the representant of phone brand, qtek, 02, mda, jam,dopod..they should do that for free.

            Hi,
Can anyone tell me where to get a firmware upgrade(ROM) in Singapore? I don't mind if there's only slight improvement in camera pic quality.

                  Hieielo!
I bought this phone a few days ago, and I LOVE IT! Havn't used everything on it yet, but its smaller than I thought it would be, its easier to use than I was afraid, its also very fast, the camera is super sexy, though a wee bit late in clicking snaps, the clarity of the ear-piece is awesome too, listening to music on the 02 mini Xda is a dream! Initially I was so afraid that maybe I will not get accustomed to it easily, but its been a breeze! No hangups what-so-ever. Miss the FM radio from my former phone, but its worth the class appeal exuberated from this phone.

I have a qtek s100 i adquire this device on a FNAC store for 500 euros.
                      Short review :
Device size and shape are great, it has the overall volume of a nokia 6600,it is even thiner.
Its heavier than a 6600, but it is not a brick, when in your pocket u don’t feel it, in part ‘couse the device is extremely thin. It’s overall ergonomics are excelent.
The CPU clocking at 416Mhz its cool, but in my experience the intel PXA272 at 416 mhz, isn’t much faster than the PXA 255 with a CPU speed of 300 MHz,it’s faster do. For that matter, is damm better than any ARM that NOKIA can put on the market or even motorolas mpx and alikes clocking at 200 MHz.
In terms of stability is no reference, but it gets the job done, be aware and careful with the software u install on it, there are some issues on compability whit the win mob. 2003 II. Its a fact, some task managers and today plugins can make your device crash, and give u a beatifull white screen, for ever.. after that only a hard reset.(wis bar advance..)
The 64 MB ram aren’t a problem, at least for me, I almost don’t use it’s storage abilty
I just install every thing on the SD card (get a fast one, this is important if u install your programs on it, 60x is what I have, more is even better, then again faster is $$) besides the PXA 272 works more swiftly when ram is free up, like any CPU.
                      WI-FI? Get a sdio card.
The screen is pretty good. It’s a standart QVGA at 240x320 but on a compact device such as this u couldn’t have a 3.5 inch screen, so u get a 2.79 inch screen, wich is very good, first it still has a very respectable size, it’s bigger than the sharp 902, 2.4 inch screen, and the reduced size of the screen gives u a better resolution,dott/pixel rattio, comparing with a 3.5 inch screen with the same 240X320 screen, u hardly see the pixels.
It’s a 65 k screen, I even doubt if it has that many. It get’s the job done, in terms of colours, but a 260k would be a huge improvement.
                      The phone
the user interface , if u are not used to PDA phones,( I always ad phone and PDA )
is diferent than anythig experience with a normal phone. Lots of parameters to configure, lots of options, still very intuitive, most of the times u mut get the stilus out do. The quality of calls is good, and the call volume, let me tell u something, F#&K ME IS LOUD, with the volume in max I can speak inside a disco , no probem.
                      Camera.
You can take pictures up to a 960x1280 resolution and make videos up to a qvga 240x320 resolution with no time limit. This sounds pretty good, but in the real world, even if the pictures size has good(1.3 mgpx) the photo was plain awfull, just terrible, the white balance was so bad ,the colours so fade, even the focus wasn’t very good, with low ligth, the result was even worse. Even if the CMOS and the lens aren’t the best in the market, there was no way that explain the pour quality of the photos. The main problem was the software in the rom that controls the camera , so I went to QTEK, to get a firmware upgrade, and boy did that fixed my problem! The photos now are great! Just like that! Colours, white balance, the works.. they look much better when u see them in the device and even better when in the lap top. My ROM version now is 1.06.00 WWE and the room date is 01/06/05. check yours.
Battery life is pretty good for a device like this, pretty good indeed.
Is qtek s100, XDAII mini, imate jam,etc etc.. the best conversion phone/ pda you can buy , my friend, by bounds and leaps, you better bellieve it is.

I've been using wifi card with my 02mini.Recently, I spent 1 hour in a cafe having meal and at the same time got connected to the internet thru wifi, checking email and browsing. I would say it drained the battery out by 40%. I see this is a disadvantage but browsing using PDA eventmore PDA phone is not my regular.Don't care.I love my O2mini
