Robert,
You can't turn off the device unless you replace the battery, in this case all your data will be lost (including some of the programmes). I got this question b4 when i read the mannual. I think the mannual is wrong. The button goes like this - Press 1 time on/off button, the devide will switch to close button which means stanby mode. If you press and hold the on/off button, it will only switch off the backlight. There is nothing wrong with your device. :)

hi fotonutz,
memory freed in my Mini, around 10MB. so i can hav another 10MB to run programs. another fren of mine freed up to 18MB, cos he only installed 8 files in the files i mentioned in the list.
just like u said, running GPS programs need lotsa memory, so with this u can run better. and the registry method does help in the Cache memory.

Jim:
There is no difference between the JAM and Mini. It all boils down to which region you are staying in and the telco company. O2, I-Mate, Qtek, HTC all have their own name, but it is virtually the same with the exception of the preloaded applications. All are manufactured by HTC (High Tech Computers) in Taiwan.
Paige:
You can input the figures directly into the pocket excel without any conversion. Personally, I'd prefer to get the Mini than the 9500 (looks like a mini coffin)
Felzao:
I think the problem may be the USB cable. Sometimes, the thing comes loose and I lose connection as well. Have to plug it in again to get it working. Used to have this problem in office, but not at home. Hopefully it is just a simple cable problem.
Keen:
Wow, very comprehensive guide. How much free space did you get after going thru all the hassle? I didn't do anything like that, but I've installed all my apps and programs into the SD card and got about 37MB of free space left in my Mini. Some of the *-ARM.exe files can be shifted and run from the SD card instead.

Here is 1 method to save lotsa storage memory for ur Mini.
1. Backup whatever neccessary, perform a hard reset.
2. Follow the screen instruction, align screen, etc...
3. when the screen show setup is complete. Tap the screen to begin using your device, get ready your stylus pen, one tap on the screen and when you see "today" screen appear, do a soft reset immediately.
Well, you are now halfway to finish the slimming course…….
4. Now in your mini, you'll realise there's one new folder called "Extended_ROM" under your file explorer.
5. Build a "Guest" partnership and copy this folder to your PC.
6. Disconnect the sync.
7. ok, let's start to do some hanky panky things on your mini's extended rom........
8. Pls tap the following according to below sequence....
[mandatory] Delete_vdisk_shortcut_WWE.sa.CAB
[mandatory] CameraWizard_WWE_B19_to_RC14.CAB
[mandatory] CameraWizard_O2Asia_Customize.CAB
[optional] Caller_ID_WWE_RC10.CAB ===>(Photo Contacts, 1343KB)
[optional] SmartDialing_WWE_RC11.CAB ===>(When press number, it will auto display the contact name, 827KB)
[optional] PhonePad_WWE_RC10.CAB ===>(Phoned Pad, 1210KB)
[optional] MMS_v2.0.0.16_Magician_WWE_20041115.CAB ===>(Install if you want to use MMS, 2281KB)
[optional] CV2.41.386_wwe.CAB ===>(ClearVue PDF/PPT viewer, 1853KB)
[optional] JMM101257_wwe_1004.CAB ===>(Midlet Manager required if want to install Java games/app, 1397KB)
[optional] DialerSkin_Portrait_091104.sa.CAB ===>(O2 Dialer Skin in portrait, 214KB)
[optional] DialerSkin_Landscap_091104.sa.CAB ===>(O2 Dialer Skin in landscape, 232KB)
[optional] After_Sales_Service_100121.sa.CAB
[mandatory] O2ASIA_WWE_Customization_1105.cab
[mandatory] default_103133.sa.CAB
[mandatory] DelAddStarMenu_092404.sa.CAB
[optional] O2_Base_v103116.sa.CAB
[optional] O2Auto.sa.CAB
[optional] O2_Connect_Xda_II_mini.cab
[optional] O2_User_Angent.sa.CAB (only if u r using O2 plus)
[mandatory] Fix_dual_SIM.sa.CAB
[mandatory] BackKeySound_RC10.CAB
[mandatory] Patch_103_7.sa.CAB
[mandatory] Patch_WWE_103155.sa.CAB
[mandatory] Version_WWE_103166.sa.CAB
10. Copy \Extended_ROM\Autoconfig.txt, Paste to \Windows
11. Tap \Windows\Autoconfig.exe for operator configuration. Once configuration done, it will ask for softreset. Tap "Yes".
Well, u’re done!!!! After the soft reset, u’ll c a difference in ur storage (not storage card) memory.
Remember, this method is only do it at ur own risk!!! If u encounters any problem, then hard reset again, everything will be back to normal.

I am planning to buy over a mini from a fren who got it for free.
How much do you think I shd pay for it?
And, in all honesty, I am not quite clever with gadgets and heard from someone that the phone was very complex.
Can all you who are existing users please advise me if the phone is a good investment?
thnx very much.

Hi all
Just wanting to share my exprerience using O2 mini to have more space in internal memory.
- Using SD card memory instead of internal memory, when cacthing a photo: Turn camera on,do to camera Setting (Bottom Right), click to Tools, go to Options, then change the photo folder at "Save to"
- To save internal memory: go tyo Setting>Files Explore>Window> Choose Files or folders, Cut and Paste to Memory Card. Please doublecheck to see if it works once the files or folders have been shifted to SD card.
- When install new program, save it onto SD card instead of internal memory.Better buy SD card with high speed.
Cheers
Any one have new experience plz share with others in our HiTech community.

Molly,
Normally I save my files in my storage card. Try exploring your mini storage card and see if its there.
