Hi Help
Yes, you should get video and audio whenever you play the the MP4 or 3GP files. However, I seem to get similar problems with some MP4 or 3GP files. If I use PVAuthor to encode my movies to 3GP, I don't have any problems. But, when I used Nero to convert to MP4, I can't view it on my Mini.
I guess it is probably due to the way it was encoded.
I'm currently using the following software to view the following files:
For AVI Files - Betaplayer
For WMV Files - MP10
For RM files - RMplayer
For MPG Files - Pocket TV
RM movies at 640x240 can run, but slower than at 320x240 resolution. Can't stand RM files encoded at 640x240 as the frame rate drops to about 10fps....
Hi Mini Mania
Actually, the PocketPC2003SE is as unstable as Win98. People who don't normally install a lot of software may want to contradict me, but since I normally experiment with a lot of software, it is very prone to crashes. Needless to say, the same goes for my Mini. However, the only good thing about the Mini is that when you perform a hard reset, ie, pressing the RESET HOLE and the POWER BUTTON, everything will be reset back to the default PPC OS. That means whatever you have installed previously will be gone.
Therefore, if you are one of those guys who are not going to install a lot of things into your Mini, you should not have any problems....
That's why I keep a separate list of programs I've installed into the Mini so that I can retrace my steps whenever something goes wrong.

hey guys, I just bought the O2 mini recently. I love it. It functions real well. The only issue I have is the battery life. It's not able to last for an entire day of regular usage... Just wondering if any other users out there are facing the same problem or if there is something wrong with my set. Thanks!
Incidentally, I haven't experienced any stability issues with the phone at all. But just a friendly word of advice to potential buyers out there, you have be to used to the Pocket PC interface, if not the learning curve for using the phone is quite steep.

I'm debating between buying this phone or the Nokia 7710. Can someone run down the pros and cons of this phone and maybe advise me in my decision somehow. I've been debating this for quite a while but can't seem to find any good information to help me make a solid decision. Thanks :)

To anyone who wants to make the SMS delivery notification a permanent feature, please read the following excerpts:
"The Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition allows you to request delivery notifications for SMS text messages. However with Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Pocket PC Phone Edition devices, you can not enable this feature as default setting (which you can with Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Smartphones like the i-mate SP3i or the Orange C500) to always get the delivery notification but you have to activate it per SMS message you send.
Now, MobiSmart.net has posted a patch which you can simply install on your Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition (according to MobiSmart.net the following devices are supported: SPV M1000/M2000 = O2 Xda II/Xda III/IIs, Qtek 2020/9090/S100 and Ipaq 934X) to enable the delivery notification as default setting.
Alternatively, if yor're handy with a registry editor you can do this yourself by:
Createing a DWORD value called SMSDeliveryNotify in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings with the value 1
This information was found on XDA-Developers (http://www.xda-developers.com)"
I know how to run regedit on a PC, but can anyone tell me how to invoke the registry editor for the Mini?

To Help,
Yes, the Mini will be able to playback most AVI and WMV formats up to 640x240 without any problems at all. However, I seem to have problems with MP4 and 3GPs. Are you refering to these two formats? I am currrently evaluating the Pocket DVD Wizard Ver3.1 to encode my DVDs to my SD card. This is one of the fastest and multi format converter for the Pocket PC. Tried using the Pocket DVD Studio and DVD-PocketPC, but found the interface to be too bare. Need some software like the Pocket DVD Wizard (US $28.95)that allows some user tweaking....
Has anyone actually ordered the Pocket DVD Wizard from Handango or PocketGear?
Hi Robin,
Just wondering if you've managed to successfully paired your Mini to the Fujitsu.
In the Mini, goto Settings, System, Power and check the RECEIVE ALL INCOMING BEAMS. If this box is uncheck, you may not be able to receive any Bluetooth signals even though your Bluetooth is enabled.

Hi guys
I got the camera patch from www.myxda.com.
Once you've registered your Mini, you click on support and look for the camera firmware upgrade. However, please note that you are not supposed to switch off or disconnect the Mini from the PC while it is running the firmware upgrade. After the completion of the firmware upgrade, you'll be required to perform a hard reset and this will erase whatever installation and data you have in the phone. Therefore, please BACKUP ALL YOUR DATA before running the firmware upgrade.
You won' notice much difference after the upgrade, therefore, I won't advise you to do it unless you want to experiment. Once you've upgraded the firmware, you'll still be able to retain the digital zoom features, nite shot mode, and the rest of the special effects mode.
The GPS software wasn't downloaded, I bought the KingMap 2 and paired it with a DConnex DC230 Bluetooth GPS Receiver. The KingMap2 is a voice-enabled GPS software that allows you to set a starting and ending point. Once you've done that, you have the option of letting the software plot a route for you. With the GPS Receiver, the Mini will prompt you to turn left, turn right, slow down, etc. The female voice alerts will eliminate the need to constantly look at the PDA while driving. Really cool stuff......

Hi Mini Mania
Mini can't recognise chinese input. In fact, the E680 doesn't have chinese input either. What it has is PinYin Keyboard. You need to know the PinYin spelling first before you can select the correct chinese characters. A very tedious way of writing chinese characters if you ask me....
Call alerts accept a variety of formats, MP3, WMA, WAV and MIDI files.
So far, I only used the camera for about 10 occasions only. Quality sucks even though I've updated the firmware for the camera. When composing under low-light conditions, you'll notice a lot of blue specks all over the screen. This could be the Mini's version of "Gain-Up" to aid in composition the shot under low-light. Once you've taken the shot, the blue specks does not appear on the actual photos. There are some links in this forum that has samples of the photos taken using the Mini. The firmware is supposed to improve the white balance and the image sharpness, but I can't really see the difference at all. It is still blur and unsharp. If you use it as a videocam, the image are terrible as the footage appears to be shot using a time-distortion special effect mode. Whenever you move the cam, the images get distorted and wobbly. I get this effect on my K500 as well, but not the P800 and Motorola E680 & E398.
Wow, pissed off situation is really strange. I never get this problem whenever I replace my battery. Could it be due to the unit's fault? One thing is that I always install my programs into the SD card to save space. So, I won't know if this happens to all Mini.....
