Now had my XDA 2i for 3 months. Steep learning curve, and only one freeze. Use it very heavily as a phone/pda/GPS (with Tom Tom s/w) and very happy to relate that all my colleagues will now be having them too - I was the "tester" since I have a (well-earned) reputation of being able to "break" any s/w or system.

HTC/O2, you sure got it right!

I have just changed over to the Utility Warehouse SIM which gives me £8 per month line rental with NO contract, and mobile calls to other networks at .08p per minute. Incredibly cheap in comparison to Orange.

        The URL is as follows:

        http://www.telecomenergyplus.com/

Just click on 'SIGN UP' and then the mobile at the top of the screen and look at the comparison chart. You will be amaized as I was. It is run on the T-Mobile backbone so the coverage is just as good!

I lost the ability to activesync! My PC and phone recognise each other, but the phone keeps "dropping" the link after being authenticated. Any suggestions short of doing a hard reset?

This is the best phone I have had in a long time. Any questions about getting MP3's or videos on the device should look at the sync option that is given with windows media 10. Initially I had a few problems as it was a new phone, now it has become my best friend. Using the calander to send invites to the office, enables me to get responses to queries to data that I have received as soon as I reach the office (exactly the same function that is available from a PC). This is one instance that endears the phone to me. Solutions from O2 about the O2 interface supply the following information: During the initial set up of the device users should choose option corporate mode and enter code 0506 this will disable the O2 interface although still running in the background, in doing so the device will have fewer crashes and freeze less often.

A keypad option is not present on the device and I suppose if you wanted on you would not have chosen this model; the XDA2s would have been your choice nonetheless, options abound from bluetooth keyboards to fullscreen keyboards (my favourite) for the device and so I happily tap away.

This phone does not only work for me, it enables me to work alongside my colleagues when away from the office; that is the reason why I chose this phone. O2 XDA2i in a class of it's own.

I am rather disappointed with this. It has a very short battery life, keeps telling me that the "backup battery needs charging" and refer to the manual but there is nothing on the manual showing how to charge the backup battery and when I use the cradle to charge both batteries it does the job but it seems that the PDA uses the Back battery first! So I get the same message while the main battery is still well charged. I can't understand why it uses the backup battery when the main battery is still charged up! Can anyone help?
                    Thanks
                    Tony

I have had my XDAIIi for a couple of months, and yes it does lock up (due to the O2 Active software no doubt), but I would still recommend this to anyone. It has run all the software I have installed on it, it looks good, the camera is OK etc. Don't be scared out of buying one of these. If all else fails a hard reset (you lose your data) cures everything, but it shouldn't come to that. A soft reset takes only 30 seconds and cures most issues. Good PDA, good phone, good all-rounder. Oh, but buy a case for it, you don't want to drop this one down the stairs!

I too have suffered with the O2 XDA IIi locking up on numerous occasions, so got annoyed with it and decided to moan at O2, their tech dept semed quite up-to-sped with the beast and it's problems. I was advised that the lock-ups we in the main due to O2 Active and the way to go is run the m/c without it.So I went for it. Hard reset (off button and soft reset button together) WARNING - THIS WILL ERASE YR DATA. Re-install everything BUT when yr asked if you want corporate or Personal setup choose corporate. You'll have to input all GPS/MMS settings yourself (that's another story!) but 7 days later and no lock-ups!!
Any tips or a novice user (better filemanager prog) or anything interesting would b appreciated.

                        C.

I have had my o2i now for about 9 months and I love it .
Yes it freezes ! but you know its going to and all you do is a warm reset and its all ok .

Its not as good as my old Psion but it small and does other things .

Think about what you have in your hand ! its a 520mhz computer a phone and more.

My only bug is that o2 have not installed all of the bluetooth stack .I would like to surf when away from the office but this means 2.35 a megabite ( which is probably 2 or 3 mins of time !!!!)

I brought a small blue tooth modem to plug in to a wall socket and connect to my isp at 1p /min but the section of the Blue tooth stack needed is missing and the two , whilst they bond , will not talk !!! infuriating , any help would be a ppreciated .

                          Regards

                          Duncan

Hi, yea I've got the same problem as everyone else, phone hanging, freezing continually resetting to try and rectify. what is the solution (apart from trashing it). how do I remove the o2 active? I am told this will cure the problem.
                            thanks. Eric

im planning to buy xda2 i .. but as what ive observe in reviews and forum i think many xda2i users complaining about hagging, phone shutdown, reset, etc but i think it depends how the users handle it.. dont compare PDA to PC ... minimize domwloading and installing programs which is not very usefull and important and i think some people comment here in forum is a LIE! i think they are one of OTHER PDA and Phone BRANDs FANATIC! they juz post bad comments here so that people will not BUY O2 brands especially o2 XDA2 i because of what the Bad comments they post!! thnx
