OmniVision announces versatile 50MP OV50M40 sensor

OmniVision announced its latest 50MP OV50M40 sensor, intended for use in main, ultra-wide, telephoto, or front-facing smartphone cameras. The 0.61µm pixel CMOS image sensor comes in a 1/2.88-inch optical format and features 4-cell binning, video HDR, and always-on function for motion detection and ultra-low power.

It supports staggered HDR and single exposure dual analog gain (DAG) HDR technology, phase detection autofocus (PDAF) for both binned and full resolution modes. It offers high-quality tele-crop zoom with 2x or 3x options.

OV50M40 is built on OmniVision’s PureCel Plus-S stacked-die technology with support for full 50MP resolution images at 12 fps, and 12.5MP images at 60 fps. It’s also capable of shooting 4K video at 60fps and 1080p video at 120fps.

OV50M40 will be available for OEM sampling in Q3,2024 while mass production is planned for Q4.

yeah not happening. The 15 series has a 1/1.3 and not this 1/2.88.

Maybe it expensive compared to Samsung HP1?

This story reminds me: did any manufacturer ever use the 200MP OVB0B sensor? I can't find a single device that does, even a China-only one.
