OnePlus 7T Pro hands-on review

Performance

Perhaps the biggest change in the OnePlus 7T Pro is an upgrade to the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset. The main difference between this chipset and the Snapdragon 855 that it replaces is a higher clocked Kryo 485 Gold Prime core and a higher clocked Adreno 640 GPU.

The difference between the two chipsets is definitely measurable in benchmarks when it comes to single-threaded CPU performance and overall GPU performance. However, in the real world, you won't see any difference between the two devices as both phones feel identical in everyday use. But more power is generally always better so we aren't going to complain about it.

Along the same lines, the OnePlus 7T Pro also comes in only one configuration, with 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage space. We tested the storage speeds and found them identical to the OnePlus 7 Pro.

Wrap-up

As you see, there are not a lot of differences between the OnePlus 7 Pro and the OnePlus 7T Pro. We would have liked to see OnePlus do more for this device, perhaps add wireless charging or proper dust and water-resistance certification. And while it may seem futile to wish for it now, we would have still liked to see the headphone jack back (or at least an adapter in the box). We also don't really care for the curved display and would like to see the screen flat like on the OnePlus 7T.

OnePlus 7t Pro hands-on review

Unfortunately, the OnePlus 7T Pro has none of those things. Regardless, it's still an excellent smartphone with a gorgeous design, stunning 90Hz QHD+ resolution HDR display, excellent performance, great all-round cameras, great speakers, good battery life and clean and functional software. The small changes have made it even better value and overall, it's still one of the best smartphones money can buy.

They could, but having this update gives them a more competitive edge against other manufacturers which have 855+ phone. Assuming 7T Pro is priced the same as 7 when it just came out.
