OnePlus 15 to debut self-developed Image Engine

Vlad, 01 September 2025

OnePlus has been investing a lot in camera capabilities in the past few years, aiming to rectify what had traditionally been one of the biggest gripes people had with its phones before - image quality.

Now, it's going to take things to another level, according to a new rumor. OnePlus is allegedly working on its first self-developed "Image Engine", which is described as "a proprietary platform built to take full control of photo and video processing".

OnePlus 15 now rumored to debut self-developed OnePlus Image Engine

This is said to contain advanced image algorithms to better handle low-light detail, skin tone accuracy, and dynamic range "in ways OnePlus has never been able to before".

It will debut on the OnePlus 15, which will have a triple 50 MP camera system on its rear and will be powered by Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon Elite chipset. With the debut of this OnePlus Image Engine, it's unclear whether the collaboration with Hasselblad will continue - in fact, we've heard plenty of rumors in recent weeks saying it wouldn't.

Whether there's any difference between the OnePlus Image Engine and Oppo's Lumo remains to be seen - this could after all just be a straight-up rebranding job and not much more.

It's gonna be the Lumo Engine, with a different name probably.

Sounds like Oppo's MariSilicon to me.
