OnePlus 6 passes scratch, burn, and bend testing

Vlad, 16 May 2018

The OnePlus 6 finally became official earlier today following many weeks of rumors and teasers. While we already know its specs, have seen the images, and even went hands-on with it, one question remains.

Will it survive the now-standard durability testing put forth by Zack from YouTube channel JerryRigEverything? Well, here's the answer, in video form.

If you can't watch it, here's the nitty gritty. The phone is covered in Gorilla Glass both on the front and the back. The screen scratches at level 6 on the Mohs scale, which is exactly as expected. A deeper groove appears at level 7.

The camera glass can't be scratched with a razor blade, and neither can the fingerprint sensor underneath it. The screen withstood an open flame for about 20 seconds, after which the pixels exposed to it permanently died. That's par for the course when it comes to AMOLEDs.

Finally, the all-important bend test. The OnePlus 6 survived without a hitch. Despite a rather surprising amount of flex, there were zero cracks or kinks. The frame remains intact and the glass is unshattered.

Stop performing dumb tests like the ones in the video. (I know you just used his video but be more creative and dont use the cheapest production quality video out there) Try to emulate at least some level of reality into it. No drop test, scratch tes...
