OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro get an update that fixes call screen lag issues

Vlad, 29 October 2021

Today OnePlus is sending out a new update for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro smartphones launched back in 2019. Before you ask - no, it's not Android 12. It's way too soon for that.

The new version is OxygenOS, still based on Android 11 as the name implies. This brings with it the October 2021 security updates, which is welcome to see while we're still (barely) in October.

Additionally, perhaps the most interesting bit about this update is that it purports to fix a longstanding issue on these phones whereby the incoming call interface would be displayed with a very noticeable delay.

So if you've been suffering from this problem, this update should fix it (hopefully) once and for all. As always, the update is rolling out in stages, with a limited number of phones receiving it today, and a wider rollout planned in a few days after making sure there are no critical bugs.

The new software version is for the OnePlus 7 in Europe, and globally, while the OnePlus 7 Pro gets in Europe and elsewhere. Note that the rollout for the EU region is trailing the global one by a bit.

I am having massive issues with Bluetooth. My range is literally only 18 inches and my phone drops the connection to whatever device I am on

Same problem with the delay in calls here with my 6T (about 2-3 secs.). Also, after Android 11 update, WiFi Smart switching is completely gone (despite being activated), I have to manually switch WIFI spots, otherwise it will stay on the low signal...
