OnePlus outs an unboxing teaser for its One flagship

09 April, 2014

The oft-leaked One flagship from Oppo breakaway company OnePlus has been leaked plenty of times in the past month or so, mostly by OnePlus itself to build hype for its upcoming flagship.

Now, the company has "leaked out" an unboxing video of the device, although it unfortunately doesn't show the smartphone itself. As the device runs on custom Android ROM CyanogenMod, Steve Kondik, founder of Cyanogen, is performing the unboxing. Take a look:

It's understandable when a budding smartphone manufacturer hypes up a smartphone release in order to compete with the established players in the field - after all, you have to make a big splash in a small amount of time before the next generation of devices rolls around.

But OnePlus has to be careful of not going to the well too many times, and ultimately not being able to deliver on consumers' high expectations.

The OnePlus One is expected to sport a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM, alongside an ultra-compact 5.5-inch display, 3,100mAh battery, 13MP Sony shooter, and all for under $400.

Maybe OnePlus will be able to deliver after all? Check back with us on April 23 to find out.
