OnePlus Watch appears in patent schematics with two different wrist strap designs

Peter, 16 February 2021

OnePlus has patented two designs for its upcoming smartwatch and the patent comes with fairly detailed drawings. It’s a round timepiece not too different from the vivo Watch, but the straps look unique.

The first is a sportier version with with a strap that looks like something you may see on a smart band. It also looks very similar to the Sport Bands for the Apple Watch. Either way, this one is most likely made out of silicone.

The other version is likely leather. Check out that clasp at the end of the strap, quite an unusual design that will reportedly be a key selling point.

Both versions of the watch have two buttons on the side as well as an optical heart rate sensor, plus what appears to be charging pins. Also notice the quick release mechanism for swapping out the wrist straps.

A previous leak showed that there will be a Cyberpunk 2077 edition of the watch. However, despite the numerous leaks and official teasers, we still don’t know when the watch will finally arrive – the current best guess is March.

I assume these are design patents on product appearance, as nothing's new about this watch, including the strap mechanisms. Then again, these are very generic, unimaginative designs. Would be surprised if these are granted.

I hope they will make them larger than the usual 44mm , many people are not buying smartwatches because they have astigmatism and don't want to put eyeglasses to see the smartwatch screen. They should do 48mm screen
