Opera Air is a new browser that helps you relax with guided meditation and exercises

Opera may have a cure for you doomscrollers out there – the new Opera Air browser. This is a browser built with mindfulness, relaxation and exercise in mind.

The first feature is called Take a Break. This has four modes, starting with breathing exercises, which can help reduce stress and your blood pressure. How’s your posture? The second mode is neck exercises – Air will guide you through some simple stretches and exercises for your neck.

Next up is meditation – meditation sessions are meant to help you “improve focus, awareness, and general mindfulness”. Finally, the fourth mode is “Full Body Scans”. That’s not as invasive as it sounds, instead it is another form of meditation where you focus on different parts of your body and become aware of how you are feeling.

The Take a Break feature can be accessed manually with the Ctrl+K/Cmd+K shortcut or it can be triggered automatically on a timer, based on your preferences. Different exercises take different amounts of time: from 3-6 minutes for a breathing exercise to 7-15 minutes for a full body scan. Also, each exercise is guided with recordings from real voice actors (no AI voice here).

Then there is the Boosts feature. It is based on Binaural Beats, which you may have encountered on YouTube and other places. The Boosts feature actually mixes binaural beats, background music and ambient sound and you get to control the volume of each component in the mix, so you can dial it in to what you like.

Finally, Opera Air uses the tried and true method of starting your day with a positive quote on the Speed Dial screen (Opera’s trademark start screen).

If that sounds interesting, you can download Opera Air and take it for a spin. Opera has been experimenting with browser UI for years now with major redesigns like Opera One or the Opera GX gaming browser. Other browsers tend to focus on functionality above all else, while Opera employs some real out-of-the-box thinking.
