Oppo A58 4G variant debuts with a larger 6.72" FHD+ display
Last year Oppo unveiled and affordable 5G phone dubbed the Oppo A58. Now the company has released a 4G variant, which changes the chipset (of course), as well as swaps out the screen for a bigger, better panel.
The new Oppo A58 4G appeared in Indonesia and is already on available for IDR 2,500,000 ($165/€150/₹13,500). Deliveries will start on July 28 (Friday). The phone comes in Dazzling Green and Glowing Black and the overall design is unchanged, although you may notice that the 8MP selfie camera (80° f/2.0 lens) now lives in a punch hole rather than a notch.

The display now uses 6.72” FHD+ panel – 1,080 x 2,400px resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio. This is up from a 6.56” HD+ LCD. The panel drops to 60Hz refresh rate (from 90Hz) but features 180Hz touch sampling rate. It has 100% coverage of DCI-P3 and sRGB, its typical brightness is 550 nits and its max is 680 nits, making it a bit brighter in addition to being much sharper (391ppi vs. 269ppi).
As for the chipset, this is a less exciting change – the Dimensity 700 is swapped out for a Helio G85. Here it is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. The 5G model was capped at 1080p @ 30fps video recording, this one is too.
This comes from both the selfie camera and the 50MP rear camera (75.5° f/1.8 lens). The second circle houses a 2MP depth sensor.
While the phone grew taller and a bit wider, it measures the same 8mm thick and at 192g it’s only 4g heavier. The larger size isn’t tied to larger battery, so the phone has an identical 5,000mAh battery with 33W SuperVOOC charging (50% in 30 minutes).
Other things that didn’t change include the microSD slot, 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers, there’s a fingerprint reader mounted on the side too. The body is rated IPX4 for resistance against water splashes. Overall, the differences between the two A58 models are comparable to those between the A78 4G and A78 5G.
You can find the Oppo A58 4G over on Oppo Indonesia. It will also be available in brick and mortar stores too, starting in early August.

Especially the Infinix Zero 30 looks impressive for a midranger with symmetrical bezels

Well, at least we'll eventually get to a point where the bezels will be symmetrical on budget phones
