Oppo Find X5 Pro hands-on review
What's new compared to the Find X3 Pro
The Oppo Find X5 Pro design language is a clear continuation of the Find X3 Pro's. The curved camera bump is now more asymmetric and looks a lot more attractive and intriguing.

The unfortunate consequence of using ceramics is that the phone is only available in White or Black. No funky colors this time around - but that's a trade-off we'd happily make.
When you add the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus that has been used on the front of the new model, you should theoretically get an improved drop and scratch resistance across the board.
The phone is again IP68-rated for dust and water resistance - just like last year. You also get stereo speakers on board, with sound backed by Dolby Atmos.
The display type and size are the same on the new model. It's advertised to reach the same peak 1300 nits worth of peak brightness as before. And the resolution is the same as before - WQHD+ resolution as before. Even the advertised color accuracy is at the same stellar level, too.
Oppo Find X5 Pro's display (left) is indistinguishable from the Oppo Find X3 Pro's (right)The new stuff regarding the display is that the LTPO 2.0 tech has allowed the variable refresh rate to go as low as 1Hz (previously 5Hz on the old model).
And the touch sampling rate is slightly higher with a nominal value of 300Hz (previously 240Hz) but with the capability to momentarily spike to 1000Hz for short bursts of time.
You get Color OS 12 with Android 12. It has all the new security features of the latest Android such as the Privacy Dashboard, Approximate Location Sharing, Microphone and Camera toggles and indicators, plus a handful of other data protection features.
Compared to the Find X3 Pro, there is now an improved system-wide haptics engine called O-haptics, which feels a lot stronger and crisper than before.
Another new feature for Oppo is that you can also cast the phone screen onto the Windows PC desktop and use it from there.
The SIM slot is at the bottom next to the USB-C port and it can take two SIM cards. Find X5 Pro should be able to support 5G dual SIM network connectivity, but this was a thing with the previous model too.

Oppo claims it has greatly improved the directionality of the antennas on the phone. There are several antennas integrated around the entire frame - both mobile network and Wi-Fi and that allows you to get the best reception no matter how you hold the phone.
Curiously, NFC is also omnidirectional, meaning you don't have to touch a specific point on the phone's back to make the connection. Any spot on the phone would do the job.

Oppo really should include at least 5x or 10x optical zoom for it to be worth the price.. 2x just isn't satisfactory at all.
