Oppo Find X6 Pro review

Design, build quality, handling

Oppo's Find series has always managed to surprise us with design in a good, sometimes even innovative way. We've come to expect a certain unique, even luxurious charm, and we did get it once again with the latest Find X6 Pro.

Oppo Find X6 Pro review

Starting way back with the first Find phones, we were treated with easily recognizable shells. But once the lineup evolved into Find X and Find N series, the Oppo design language went through a few iterations. There was the first Find X with the popping-out rear camera module, the all-leather (or ceramic) Find X2, the modern seamless back of the Find X5.

Today, the Find X6 dials back the innovative shapes and presents us with their new Orange Dot design, a specific shape and accents that pay homage to the traditional SLR cameras.

The Oppo Find X6 Pro body is nothing short of a flagship build with high-end glass, aluminum and eco leather, while the classic camera reminiscence gives it the premium touch and feel many users expect from a top-tier smartphone, especially a camera-centric one.

Oppo Find X6 Pro review

The Oppo Find X6 Pro is available in two different builds - glass with eco leather and all glass. The Brown model we have for this review has an interesting back panel, one that transitions from a matte Gorilla Glass 5 piece to brown eco leather. It is the only model to have such a split on its back, and we love how it matches the camera island split (glossy top part and gramophone record-like bottom part).

There are also Black and Green versions, both with Gorilla Glass 5 backs without such split. According to Oppo the Black model has a sandblasted-like finish on the glass back, while the Green one is smoother, though still matte.

The Orange Dot design is what Oppo calls the camera housing. The huge round island is noticeably jutting out of the back, and it is surrounded by an aluminum bezel. The metal ring mimics the grip on a SLR camera lens, and the orange dot at the bottom is what should have been the alignment dot if this were a real SLR camera.

The camera island itself has two parts - the top one is all glossy and houses the primary and the ultrawide cameras, as well as the laser-assistance and color spectrum sensors, the LED flash, one microphone, and the Hasselblad logo. Then comes the bottom part with a gramophone record-like texture, a home to the zoom camera.

The phone has a slightly curved panel. The screen is protected with the latest Gorilla Glass Victus 2 by Corning, while we've already talked about the different back panels. Between those panels is a solid aluminum frame with a matte finish.

The Oppo Find X6 Pro is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance, though we are not sure how the eco-leather part will look after continuous water exposure.

Enough design talk, let's look around the phone now.

The 6.82-inch LTPO3 OLED panel occupies most of the front, and it's probably one of the most premium screens you can have today. It is of high resolution and refresh rate; it supports Dolby Vision and its peak brightness is reportedly 2,500 nits.

The display has tiny, even bezels, and the small cutout for the 32MP front camera is not that of an eyesore. The whole thing is protected by a slightly curved Gorilla Glass Victus 2 piece.

There is a barely visible outlet above the screen, just before the frame. This is where one of the stereo speakers sits, and it also serves as an earpiece. Because of its dual purpose, you will also spot another sound outlet at the top of the phone to provide symmetry with the other speaker at the bottom of the Find X6 Pro.

There is also an optical fingerprint scanner behind the display. It's incredibly fast, and we are happy with its accuracy and overall reliability.

We've already explored the back well, it's a real showstopper, and anyone would be able to make out the Find X6 Pro in a crowd. And because of this large camera island, the phone barely wobbles when used on a flat desk, whether it's with or without a case.

The metal frame is thinner around the left and right sides, slightly curved too. It has a somewhat grippy matt finish.

There are two separate volume keys on the left side.

The top and bottom parts of the frame are thicker and flat. In fact, the Find X6 Pro can stand on its own at its bottom side in case you need it to do so.

And speaking of the bottom, here you can see the dual-SIM tray, the USB-C port that is flanked by two microphones, and the grille of the second speaker.

Finally, another microphone, the IR blaster and the second outlet for the first speaker all sit at the top of the Find X6 Pro.

Oppo Find X6 Pro review

The Oppo Find X6 Pro measures 164.8 x 76.2 x 9.1 and weighs 216 grams, which is in line with most flagships. The model with the eco-leather is a hair thicker at 9.5mm and weighs 218 grams.

The Oppo Find X6 Pro, at least our Brown model, is one of the few flagship smartphones on the market to offer a secure enough grip. We shot a lot of photos and videos on the phone without using the original case and most of the time it felt pretty comfortable. The leather back and the matte frame do help the grip, while the slightly curved body makes it feel thinner and, well, good in hand.

Oppo Find X6 Pro review

The phone offers a large screen, but it's not an oversized device, and we liked the overall experience. We also liked the matching premium cases Oppo ships as part of the retail bundle - they do not cover the exquisite design, but are more like an extension to it.

Oppo Find X6 Pro review

The Oppo Find X6 Pro has one of the most balanced, grippy, beautiful and overall solid builds we've seen lately, and we easily give this one a Perfect mark for the craftsmanship.

Could anyone check if these apps still dosn't work: ... Android Auto, Nearby Share, Google backup, and even the Google location history.

Xiaomi most certainly does use ads and bloatware on its flagships. You have to flash the Xiaomi EU ROM to get rid of the ads and bloatware.
